Here’s a full rundown of WWE releases in 2025 so far.

2025 has already seen a wave of WWE releases, and we’re keeping track of every wrestler who has unfortunately been let go so far.

Traditionally, WWE’s biggest roster cuts tend to come in the aftermath of WrestleMania.

However, in 2025, the company has started making releases much earlier, with some talents already being released as far back as January.

This article will be updated as more WWE releases are announced throughout 2025. Hopefully, for the sake of those still under contract, these cuts will be kept to a minimum.

WWE Releases 2025 2f505e

Duke Hudson – January 31 43v3v

Though his release wasn’t publicly known until February, Duke Hudson was actually let go in January 2025.

The Australian wrestler, who ed WWE in 2019, had a stint in NXT and briefly appeared on the main roster during the pandemic.

His biggest success came as part of Chase University, where he won the NXT Tag Team Championships alongside Andre Chase before the faction disbanded.

The Authors of Pain’s second WWE tenure ended in disappointment.

While the duo reportedly re-signed in late 2022, they only returned to TV in 2024 as part of the Final Testament.

Their run was largely forgettable, and now both Akam and Rezar have been released once again.

The future of the powerhouse tag team remains uncertain, but a return to the independent circuit or even a revival of their Wrestling Entertainment Series promotion could be on the cards.

Paul Ellering – February 7 2g6m

WWE confirmed Paul Ellering’s release in early February.

The legendary manager had returned to WWE in 2024 alongside the Authors of Pain, forming the Final Testament with Karrion Kross and Scarlett.

Despite his historic reputation as a phenomenal talker, Ellering was largely silent during this run, with his most notable moment being an attack by Uncle Howdy’s Wyatt Sick6 faction.

Blair Davenport – February 7 2v2mz

Blair Davenport’s WWE release came as a bit of a shock.

Drafted to the main roster in 2024, she wasn’t given much opportunity to establish herself before being let go.

Despite previous reports suggesting WWE had creative plans for her in 2025, those never materialised.

A highly regarded performer, Davenport will likely have multiple options once her non-compete expires, including potential returns to STARDOM or the independent scene.

Cedric Alexander – February 7 6m3d14

After eight and a half years with WWE, Cedric Alexander was among the 2025 releases.

A former Cruiserweight Champion and Raw Tag Team Champion, Alexander had been mentoring younger talents in NXT before his departure.

Reports suggest there is interest in bringing him to AEW, particularly as part of the Hurt Syndicate, but his wife’s past issues with Tony Khan could complicate that move.

Sonya Deville – February 7 664l5d

Sonya Deville’s situation differs slightly, as she was not technically released but instead informed that WWE would not be renewing her contract when it expired a few weeks later.

Deville had been with WWE since 2015 and won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship in 2023 alongside Chelsea Green.

She will be free to sign with another promotion without a non-compete clause.

Giovanni Vinci – February 8 628k

Giovanni Vinci’s WWE tenure had its ups and downs.

Originally introduced as Fabian Aichner, he found success in NXT as part of Imperium.

However, his main roster run was inconsistent, with Vinci eventually being kicked out of Imperium and sent to SmackDown, where he struggled to gain traction.

Despite rumours that WWE had plans for him, he was ultimately released.

His in-ring talent is undeniable, and he could be a strong pickup for another promotion.

Isla Dawn – February 8 475t40

One-half of the Unholy Union, Isla Dawn was released despite holding WWE Women’s Tag Team gold in 2024.

The Scottish wrestler had been with WWE since 2018 and had success alongside Alba Fyre.

Dawn’s cryptic social media messages post-release suggest she has plans for the future, though it’s unclear where she will land next.

The Good Brothers, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, were both released in 2025.

Anderson’s release was particularly controversial, as he was still recovering from a shoulder injury sustained in WWE.

Gallows, on the other hand, was finishing up his third WWE stint.

With their Bullet Club history and past success in NJPW, AEW, and TNA, it’s likely the duo will land on their feet elsewhere once Anderson is medically cleared.

Elektra Lopez – February 9 5x3l5a

Elektra Lopez’s release was particularly surprising, as she had just appeared on SmackDown the same night she was let go.

Lopez had been a member of Legado del Fantasma and had a brief but notable WWE run.

Given her prior experience in Ring of Honor, a return to that brand could be a possibility.

Carmella – February 21 1h411w

Like Sonya Deville, Carmella was not outright released but had her contract quietly expire.

A former SmackDown Women’s Champion and multiple-time 24/7 Champion, Carmella had not wrestled since March 2023.

Her future in wrestling remains uncertain, but she could potentially pursue opportunities outside WWE.

These are all the WWE releases confirmed in 2025 so far. As the year progresses, more names may be added to this unfortunate list.

Stay tuned for updates on additional roster cuts and where these released talents end up next.
