The London crowd were electric for this week’s Monday Night Raw, featuring a blockbuster showdown between Cody Rhodes and John Cena, a chaotic Women’s World Championship match, and an incredible Gunther/Uso angle which left fans stunned.

Here’s everything that went down on the road to WrestleMania!

WWE Raw Results & Highlights

John Cena and Cody Rhodes Promo

John Cena came out to kick off the show to a loud but mixed reaction. But unlike the past two weeks, his WrestleMania opponent Cody Rhodes didn’t let him speak, and the Undisputed WWE Champion came down to the ring to a heroic reception.

Cena looked on in disgust as the London crowd sang along to Cody’s entrance theme before they broke into a “Cody, Cody Rhodes” chant.

Cody got the war of words underway, pointing out his flaws before Cena could himself, mentioning his lisp, the Stardust gimmick, and his neck tattoo.

Cena retaliated, calling Cody a nepo baby, a liar, and nothing more than his chauffeur.

Cody fired back, reminding Cena that he was chosen by the fans and not by someone in office who isn’t here anymore. He itted Cena is his hero – but is also a piece of s***.

Cena arguably got the line of the night when he said he built empires for billionaires while Cody just stole money from their kids.

Before Cena can leave the ring, Cody gets the last word in, saying the fans have never once chanted “you can’t wrestle” at him, like they have with Cena, which triggered the 16-time champ to get back in the ring.

Cena tried a cheap shot, but Cody saw it coming, countering with a Cross Rhodes, leaving Cena laid out.

The New Day vs The New Catch Republic

The England crowd were treated to the return of Tyler Bate and, in turn, The New Catch Republic (still a dreadful name for a tag team).

The four put on a good tag match, but unfortunately there was no happy homecoming for Bate and Pete Dunne, who lost to The New Day.

Winners: The New Day

Post-match, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston lament that they deserve a title shot, and out come the tag champs, The War Raiders, for a staredown, teasing a future bout.

Gunther vs Jimmy Uso

Despite a brief comeback from Jimmy, Gunther decimated Jey’s brother and wasn’t put off by the “Gunther is a w***er” chants aimed at him.

Winner: Gunther

Gunther continued his attack after the bell, applying a sleeper hold until Jey ran down for the save. Gunther escaped into the crowd, only to ambush Jey moments later.

Gunther then zip-tied Jey’s hands to the ropes, forcing him to watch as he brutalised Jimmy.

The World Heavyweight Champion then busted Jimmy open with the title belt before continuing to beat him down in the ring, even licking his blood and triggering “ECW” chants.

Gunther locked in another sleeper, covering himself with Jimmy’s blood, before Adam Pearce finally sent help to break it up.

That’s probably Jimmy written off TV until after Mania.

Penta & Bron Breakker vs. Finn Bálor & Dominik Mysterio

Bron Breakker once again proved he thrives in tag matches, showing off his insane power and agility.

Breakker hit a double suplex on Bálor and Dominik, triggering loud barking and “Who let the dogs out?” chants.

The finish saw Breakker accidentally spear Penta, allowing Judgment Day to capitalise.

Balor hit the Coup de Grâce on Penta for the win.

Winners: Finn Bálor & Dominik Mysterio

Backstage, Breakker and Penta had a heated argument, planting seeds for a future feud.

Logan Paul and AJ Styles Promo

AJ Styles hit the ring first, despite Logan Paul being the one d to “call out” AJ.

Logan ed him and was his usual arrogant self, mocking the crowd and triggering “Shut the f*** up” and “Who are ya?” chants.

AJ called Logan “the biggest douchebag to ever step foot in WWE” but itted he is talented.

Logan responded by insulting the crowd, calling them poor and broke and saying, “I don’t fight for free”.

A brawl erupted, with Logan hitting a modified DDT (dubbed the “Paulverizer” by Pat McAfee).

AJ Styles vs Logan Paul was later made official for WrestleMania 41.

Women’s World Championship: Iyo Sky (c) vs. Rhea Ripley – Bianca Belair as Special Guest Referee

This match was great – fast-paced and physical, with the crowd split between champion and challenger.

But, as expected, there were shenanigans. Both Rhea and Iyo accidentally struck Bianca Belair, leading to chaos and false finishes.

As tensions flared, Belair called for a DQ, causing a post-match brawl.

Ripley ended the night standing tall, delivering a second-rope Riptide on Belair.

Match Ended A No Contest (Iyo Sky retains)

WWE Raw Review & Final Thoughts

Overall, a very good Raw this week and much better than the previous two episodes on the European tour.

The Cena/Cody segment was incredible and immeasurably better than the confused and unfocused stuff they served the previous two weeks.

What stood out the most about this interaction was the way it framed Cena’s reasoning for his heel turn. The “You People” schtick from the previous weeks felt hollow and an excuse rather than a genuine motivation.

Ideally, The Rock would have been present to drive this home even further, but the content this week did a solid job of tying back to the Elimination Chamber angle while ramping up the direct personal stakes between Cody and Cena.

Cena needs to appear on one of these last few episodes of Raw for a physical and impactful heat angle on Cody.

If they can get Rock and even Travis Scott involved in this, all the better. The pieces are there – it’s just about executing the final steps and landing the plane smoothly before the big show.

Elsewhere, it’s nice to see Tyler Bate back.

The Gunther/Jey angle was absolutely phenomenal and was exactly the sort of heat the feud needed. You couldn’t keep your eyes off it. Actual serious angles. The proper stuff. That’s pro wrestling.

The Logan/AJ stuff wasn’t great; Paul needs reinventing and some help with his promo work.

As for the main event, it was always going to end in shenanigans. The match was great – they should really have Rhea wrestle more on TV.

It would’ve been nice to have a quick CM Punk interview, even backstage, seeing as he was there. Even if he doesn’t say anything super new, it’s just nice to see the stars.

Rating: 4/5
