Will Tiger Woods Compete At Next Week’s Players Championship? Golf Icon Speaks Out After TGL Exit

American golf legend Tiger Woods has spoken out about competing at next week’s Players Championship.
Woods opted not to take part in this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational – despite being granted automatic entry to the Signature Event, and many other PGA tournaments, until he turns 60.
The 49-year-old did compete in a TGL match on Tuesday and also played Monday at the Seminole Pro-Member event.
Speculation had ramped up that he would compete at the Players Championship which gets underway on March 13.
Woods addressed the speculation during his appearance at the TGL – the tech-infused golf league he helped launch – on Tuesday night.
Tiger Woods Likely To Miss Players Championship
Tiger Woods appeared to rule himself out of next week’s Players Championship in Ponte Breda Beach, Florida.
The 49-year-old itted that his ‘heart is really not into practicing’ – raising further doubts whether he will compete at The Masters next month.
When asked if he is gearing up to compete in Florida in the coming weeks, he bluntly remarked as per Sports Illustrated: “Not really.
“This is the third time I’ve touched a club since my mom ed, so I haven’t really gotten into it.
“My heart is really not into practicing right now. I’ve had so many other things to do with the Tour and trying to do other things.
“Once I start probably feeling a little bit better and start getting into it, I’ll start looking at the schedule.”
Woods last played officially at the British Open, where he missed the cut in July. In September he had a sixth back procedure.
He was set to play the Genesis Invitational back in February, before pulling out after the death of his mother.

Tiger Woods cast doubt on appearing at the Players Championship during his TGL appearance.
The TGL’s first playoff will take place without league founders Woods and Rory McIlroy.
McIlroy’s Boston Common team lost 10-6 to New York Golf Club on Monday night.
That result also put an end to Woods’ Jupiter Links team’s hopes of reaching the play-offs before they lost 9-1 to Atlanta Drive on Tuesday night.
Woods appeared to be in positive spirits though as he was seen laughing at team-mate Tom Kim’s premature celebration after a missed chip.
