In January, Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr would face off for the first time ahead of their super fight on April 26th and what occurred stunned fight fans.
Both Eubank and Benn were having success with their verbal exchanges, as Benn reminded Eubank Jr of his broken relationship with Eubank Sr – while Next Gen continuously referred to Benn’s failed drugs tests.
After a war of words the two fighters were brought head-to-head for a traditional boxing face off and no one could expect what was about to occur.
Eubank Jr appeared to put his left ear next to the mouth of Conor Benn to hear what was being said, however, this was a clear set up as Eubank Jr pulled an egg from his pocket and slapped Benn around the face with it.
The egg smashed into pieces after landing cleanly and at pace, which caused a mass brawl to break out on stage with Nigel Benn, Conor’s dad, grabbing Eubank Jr by the throat.
Eddie Hearn, the promoted for Conor Benn, was clearly aggrieved and even pushed Ben Shalom who is the promoted of Chris Eubank Jr.
The clip of Eubank Jr slapping Conor Benn with an egg went viral on social media and put the anticipation for the fight into a different stratosphere.
Now the question is – why did Eubank Jr use an egg? Well, this was another clever reference to Conor Benn’s failed drugs test.
During the process of Benn’s punishment, he claimed that the banned substance entered his system due to eating too many eggs.
Did Conor Benn Fail A Drug Test Because Of Eggs?
It seems almost bizarre that Conor Benn could fail a drugs test from an egg, however, the truth is that no body knows how he managed to get the banned substance into his system.
The son of Nigel Benn failed two VADA drugs test after clomiphene was found in his system and the WBC claimed that the first failed drugs test could have been down to the fact Benn was eating around 34 eggs each week.
During the buildup to this fight, Benn has been asked about his failed drugs test on multiple occasions but we have never got a straight up answer.
His usual response is made up of Benn stating he has been cleared on multiple occasions and that should be the end of it.
