The Golfers Who Have Won The Most Money At The Masters With Tiger Woods Second

The 89th edition of the Masters tournament gets underway this week and ahead of the biggest golf competition on the calendar, SportsCasting takes a look at who has won the most money at the Masters.
Last year, Scottie Scheffler took home $3.6 million after winning the tournament for the second time in three years.
The prize money has yet to be revealed for 2025 but is expected to be around the same figure. So Scheffler could move further up the rankings if he prevails at Augusta National this week.
Jack Nicklaus has won the green jacket more times than anyone else with six. However, the prize money on offer during his playing days are far below what the winners receive today.
He took just $144,000 for his final win at Augusta National back in 1986. So Nicklaus doesn’t even come in the top 20 for most money won at the Masters.
Below, SportsCasting takes an in-depth look at the top 10 golfers who have won the most prize money at the Masters.
Which Golfer Has Won The Most Money At The Masters?
10. Hideki Matsuyama ($4,034,867)
13 Appearances, Best finish – 1st in 2021
Hideki Matsuyama jumped into the top 10 of golfers with the most money won at the Masters after finishing t-38th in 2024.
He became the first Japanese golfer to win a men’s major golf championship at the Masters in 2021. That victory earned him a prize fund of just over $2m.
Matsuyama also finished fifth in 2015 and tied for seventh in 2016.

9. Bubba Watson ($4,131,230)
16 Appearances, Best Finish – 1st in 2012 and 2014
Bubba Watson is a two-time winner of the Masters after prevailing in 2012 and 2014.
His first victory came in a play-off against South African Louis Oosthuizen, before winning by a more comfortable three strokes in 2014.
The 46-year-old finished tied for fifth in 2018 but missed the cut in the last two years.
8. Rory McIlroy ($4,343,021)
16 appearances, Best Finish – 2nd in 2022
The Masters tournament is the one golf major that Rory McIlroy is yet to win during his illustrious career.
He finished second in 2022 but was not really in contention to take the green jacket. A bogey-free 64 in the final round saw him jump up from ninth to second.
McIlroy will be determined to complete the major set at Augusta National this week.

7. Justin Rose ($4,413,765)
19 Appearances, Best Finish – 2nd in 2015 and 2017
Justin Rose took his one and only golf major win at the U.S. Open in 2014, though he came close to winning the Masters in 2017.
He lost in a playoff to Sergio Garcia – two years after finishing t-second in 2015.
Rose has struggled in recent years after failing to make the cut three times in the last six tournaments. His best finish since that playoff defeat was seventh in 2021.
6. Dustin Johnson ($4,637,235)
14 Appearances, Best Finish – 1st in 2020
Dustin Johnson won the Masters in 2020 with a record score of 20-under-par – five strokes ahead of Im Sung-jae and Cameron Smith.
That win earned him over $2m in prize money. He also finished one shot off victory in 2019 when Tiger Woods won his fifth Masters tournament.
Johnson will be hoping for better fortune than in recent years after failing to make the cut in 2021 and 2024 while finishing tied for 48th.
5. Jon Rahm ($5,120,217)
8 Appearances, Best Finish – 1st in 2023
Jon Rahm has an impressive record at the Masters after finishing in the top-10 on five of the eight occasions he has played at the Masters.
His best performance was in 2023 when he won by four strokes to Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson.
He also finished fourth in 2018 and tied for fifth in 2021.

4. Jordan Speith ($6,025,828)
11 Appearances, Best Finish – 1st in 2015
Jordan Speith is a one-time winner of the Masters but yet that should be two.
He experienced the joys of Augusta National when he won the Masters in 2015. One year later the Masters golf course bit back.
Speith shot a quadruple bogey on the 12th hole of the final round, surrendering his lead and finishing three strokes down in third.

3. Scottie Scheffler ($7,037,325)
5 Appearances – Best Finish – 1st in 2022 and 2024
Scottie Scheffler is third on the list for golfers who have won the most money at the Masters. This is despite only taking part in the Masters on five occasions.
He won the prestigious tournament in 2022 and 2024, with three other finishes inside the top 20.
His high ranking is largely down to the greater prize winnings on offer at the Masters compared to past years.
However, he could be top of this list if he wins the tournament for a third time this week.

2. Tiger Woods ($9,642,636)
26 Appearances, Best Finish – 1st in 1997, 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2019
Tiger Woods is second on the all-time list of most Masters victory, and is also runner-up when it comes to golfers who have won the most prize money at the tournament.
He won the Masters four times in the space of nine tournaments between 1997 to 2005. He won his fifth green jacket and final major to date at the 2019 Masters.
Woods also finished in the top five in 2000, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2013.
There had been hope that the legendary golf star would return to Augusta National this year.
However, he will sit on the sidelines after rupturing his achilles.

1. Phil Mickelson (9,845,317)
31 Appearances, Best Finish – 1st in 2004, 2006 and 2010
Three-time Masters winner Phil Mickelson is top of the list of golfers to have won the most prize money at the tournament.
This is despite his last triumph coming in 2010, having previously won in 2004 and 2006.
Since 2010 he has made the top five on just three occasions – tied for third in 2012 and second in both 2015 and 2023.
However, he has come in the top 10 on 16 occasions between 1995 and 2023.
Mickelson, now 54, will hope for a strong finish when he takes to Augusta National this week.
On this day in 2010, Phil Mickelson won his 3rd Masters with a bogey free (-5) 67 in the final round.
The win was especially meaningful as Mickelson’s wife & mother were battling breast cancer. pic.twitter.com/MUVTCg68kJ
