Which F1 Drivers And Teams Have The Most Championships Ahead Of The 2025 Season?

The F1 2025 season will see 20 drivers and 10 teams compete for the drivers’ and constructors’ glory, and here SportsCasting takes a look at those who have won the most championships in the sport’s history.
Max Verstappen will be gunning for his fifth consecutive drivers’ title in 2025, and just two other drivers on the grid have previously been crowned champion.
In of teams, McLaren will be defending their title from 2024 which was the first time they won the constructors crown since 1998.
However, it is another team on the grid who are well and truly above the rest in of constructors’ championships.
Here, SportsCasting takes a look at the drivers and teams who have won the most F1 world championships.
Who Has Won The Most F1 Drivers’ Championships?
Michael Schumacher own the record for the most career F1 world drivers’ titles with seven apiece.
Schumacher won the 1994 and 1995 titles with Benetton before winning five in a row for Ferrari from 2000 to 2004.
Hamilton won his first title for McLaren in 2008 before winning six titles with Mercedes (2014, 2015 and between between 2017 and 2020).
The Brit who will drive for Ferrari in 2025 could have won his eighth title in 2021. However, a controversial ending handed Max Verstappen his first championship.

Verstappen will look to tie Juan Manuel Fangio by winning his fifth title in 2025 – which would put him only behind Schumacher and Hamilton.
Currently, the Dutchman is tied with former Red Bull star Sebastian Vettel and Alain Prost on four titles.
The only other driver on the grid to win an F1 drivers’ title is Fernando Alonso who found his success two decades ago by winning the 2005 and 2006 championships.

Which Team Has Won The Most Constructors’ Championships?
Ferrari have comfortably won the most constructors’ championships with 16. However, this is no surprise given that they are the only team to be present since the inaugural F1 season in 1950.
They are followed by three other teams who are presently on the grid – none of which are Red Bull.
Williams are t-second with nine despite not winning a drivers’ or constructors’ title since 1997.
They are tied with McLaren who moved up to nine in 2024, with Mercedes following the pair with eight.
Lotus – no longer on the grid – are next with seven, while Red Bull are on six.
