Everton are once again locked in a battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League with just one point separating them and the drop zone.

The Toffees have flirted with the relegation zone ever since the 2021-2022 season. Everton survived by four points that season and two points a year later.

Despite an improved finish in 2024, this year looks to be a tough one for the Toffees who have failed to win 16 out of their 19 Premier League games so far.

Questions have been asked about manager Sean Dyche, with just one win in their last 11 games in the English top-flight.

Regardless of who is the manager, if current results continue, relegation could be a real possibility for the Toffees.

When Everton Last Suffered Relegation

Everton are part of an elite group of clubs that have not suffered relegation in the Premier League era. However, they have been relegated from the English top-flight before.

The last time Everton were relegated was in the 1950-51 campaign and they have been in the top-flight since 1954-55.

Everton finished bottom of the old First Division after picking up just 12 wins across the 42-game season. They went down with Sheffield Wednesday in a season where Tottenham were crowned champions.

The Toffees have never been relegated in the Premier League era.

They have come close to the drop in a number of seasons since the inception of the Premier League however.

In 1993-94 Everton came from 2-0 down to beat Wimbledon 3-2 to instead send Sheffield United out of the Premier League. In 1997-98 they only survived due to their superior goal difference ahead of Bolton.

Then in 2022-23, a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth kept their place in the Premier League.
