Many horse racing fans will be wondering what is the 2025 Cheltenham Gold Cup prize money – ahead of the big feature race on Friday, as all eyes will be on Galopin Des Champs as he looks to win the race for a third time.

What Is The 2025 Cheltenham Gold Cup Prize Money and How Much Could Galopin Des Champs Win?

The 2025 Cheltenham Gold Cup prize purse stands at £625,000 – with over half of that going to the winner.

This year’s first past the post will collect £363,999.38 – with many feeling this will be the winner of the race for the last two seasons Galopin Des Champs.

If Galopin Des Champs Wins, He’ll Take His Career Earnings To Over £2m

If Galopin Des Champs can land a third Gold Cup he’ll increase his career earnings from £1,644,694 to £2,008,696.30 – breaking the £2m prize money barrier.

The Gold Cup runner-up will get £137,138.56, the third £68,633.97 and the fourth £34,284.64.

Even the horse that comes 8th will get £2,199.39 – but with nine expected runners, this means one horse will walk away with nothing.

Only Nine Cheltenham Gold Cup Runners In 2025

Galopin Des Champs will only face eight other Gold Cup runners – with nine heading to post for the Friday Cheltenham Festival feature.

Banbridge, who landed the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day at Kempton, is one of the main dangers – but some are questioning if he’ll last out the extra trip. We’ll find out.

While the JP McManus-owned Inothewayurthinkin is another those against Galopin Des Champs might lean to after being recently supplemented for the race.

He landed the Kim Muir Chase at the Festival 12 months ago but was also 7 1/4 lengths adrift of Galopin Des Champs in the Irish Gold Cup last time out (watch below).
