Report: Vinicius Junior’s Camp Denies Imminent Contract Renewal With Real Madrid

Vinicius Junior’s entourage has reportedly claimed that the Brazilian has not yet finalised his contract renewal with Real Madrid.
Earlier this week, many trusted news outlets claimed Vinicius Jr had agreed to extend his stay at Real Madrid. The 24-year-old, who sees his current deal expire in June 2027, had reportedly committed his future until 2029 or 2030.
On Wednesday, April 23, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
“Vinicius Jr, on the verge of reaching an agreement with Real Madrid over [a] new deal for the next five years.
“Deal almost done as La Ser reported, waiting to clarify whether gonna be valid until 2030 or 2029 with option to extend. Vini always wanted to stay at Real Madrid.”

However, Mario Cortegana (via The Athletic) has presented a different story, claiming the player’s camp does not think of it as a done deal.
Vinicius Jr’s Camp Denies Advanced Talks, Player Wants Historic Real Madrid Contract
Real Madrid insist that they have been negotiating with Vinicius Jr for a while now and are hopeful of wrapping up the renewal sooner rather than later. According to Cortegana, however, Vinicius Jr’s camp has denied holding advanced talks, suggesting the two parties have yet to land on the same page.
Real Madrid’s renewal offer for Vinicius Jr reportedly came with a decent salary bump. If he had agreed, Vinicius Jr would have been earning between €15m and €20m (£12.8–£17.1m) until the end of the extended term.
The 2024 Ballon d’Or runner-up, however, turned it down and reportedly put forth some big demands. As per The Athletic’s report, Vinicius Jr wants to secure a contract similar to what Cristiano Ronaldo received and become one of the highest-paid players in the club’s history.

He wants a package of around €30m (£25.7m) per year, which would cover his base pay, performance incentives, and renewal bonus. Los Blancos, however, are not yet prepared to meet the player’s demands and conveyed the same to Vini’s camp in a meeting in February.
Since then, there has been no official communication between the two parties. Vinicius’ entourage maintains there have not been any negotiations with Madrid, and talks would only restart when the club hierarchy returns to the table.
Vinicius Jr has played 312 games for the club since ing in the 2018-19 season. He has scored 105 goals and provided 82 assists, winning two UEFA Champions League trophies and three LaLiga titles, among other honours.
