Brock Lesnar and Dana White Cleared as UFC Lawsuit from Mark Hunt Is Dismissed

The US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals have officially dismissed the lawsuit brought by former UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt against the UFC, Dana White, and Brock Lesnar, closing a years-long legal saga.
The case, which stemmed from UFC 200 in 2016, alleged fraud, conspiracy, and battery—claims that have now been rejected at every judicial level.
Mark Hunt vs Brock Lesnar UFC 200
The legal dispute originated from a co-main event fight at UFC 200, where Mark Hunt faced off against Brock Lesnar, a former UFC champion and WWE star.
Lesnar won the bout via unanimous decision, but the result was later overturned to a no-contest after he tested positive for clomiphene, a banned substance.
What made this case particularly explosive was Hunt’s claim that UFC officials, including President Dana White, knew of Lesnar’s failed drug test prior to the fight but went ahead with the event regardless.
This, in turn, fuelled allegations that the UFC prioritised profits over athlete safety.
Brock Lesnar Positive Drug Test
Lesnar tested positive for banned substances both before and after the UFC 200 fight.
A pre-fight sample collected on June 28, 2016, revealed the presence of clomiphene, but the results were not disclosed until after the July 9 bout.
Hunt argued this delay put him at unfair risk and compromised the integrity of the fight.
Despite the serious nature of the accusations, the court ultimately found Hunt’s claims insufficient to proceed.
According to the ruling, the plaintiff failed to provide evidence of damages—be they physical, emotional, or financial.
Mark Hunt UFC Case Ruling
The Ninth Circuit Court affirmed the earlier decision by Judge Jennifer Dorsey, stating, “Hunt does not point to any evidence in the record of any physical, emotional, economic, or reputational damage…
“At the summary judgment stage, the nonmoving party must present evidence showing there is a genuine issue of material fact for trial.”
This ruling effectively clears Brock Lesnar, Dana White, and the UFC of all legal wrongdoing, placing a definitive end to one of the most prolonged legal battles in MMA history.
Dana White Legal Victory: What This Means for UFC
The reason the case was such a big deal was because it raised questions about how the UFC treats its fighters and handles drug testing. Now that the court has dismissed the lawsuit, the UFC won’t face any legal consequences from it.
The ruling also means the UFC keeps control over how it runs fights and handles drug test results.
Back in 2023, Dana White called Mark Hunt “delusional” over the lawsuit and suggested Hunt might end up paying legal fees.
With the case now officially over, that’s exactly what might happen—Hunt could be responsible for some of the UFC’s legal costs.
Where Are They Now? Mark Hunt and Brock Lesnar’s Latest Updates
Mark Hunt, now 50, has shifted his focus toward advocating for better fighter protections and has remained vocal about what he sees as systemic issues in combat sports.
Brock Lesnar made his last public appearance at WWE SummerSlam 2023, facing Cody Rhodes. He has since stayed out of the public eye, likely due to being indirectly linked to Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE, with no current sign of a return to MMA or pro wrestling.
