Having won their first major trophy in their 164-year history, there have been many days of celebration since Crystal Palace won the FA Cup on May 17th.

This is because Palace’s US owner John Textor, who is their majority shareholder, is also the owner of another Europa League qualifying team Lyon.

With UEFA rules stating that two clubs with the same owners can’t compete in the same European competition.

As Lyon (6th) finished higher in the French league than Palace (12th) this is the reason they hold the aces over the Eagles.

Textor and fellow Eagles owner David Blitzer are believed to have tried to place their Crystal Palace shares into a ‘blind trust’ in order to get around this issue.

But, the news coming out of Selhurst Park is this move have since been REJECTED by UEFA.

Based on the UEFA multi-ownership rules any changes to a club’s ownership must have taken place before March 1st – in order for them to come into force for the following season.

Meaning Palace are three months too late and therefore, the uncertainly for the Palace owners and Eagles fans remains.

The saga continues.
