UEFA Champions League Matchday 2 Roundup As Real Madrid Lose And All Four Premier League Sides Victories

The UCL matchday 2 results brought about a number of shocks and surprises across the continent on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
All 36 teams were in action across both evenings with all four Premier League sides ing important victories. However, ’s Borussia Dortmund lead the way after they made it two wins from two.
This season, the UEFA Champions League underwent a restructure meaning the top eight teams automatically qualify for the knockout stages.
Those finishing from 9th-24th will go head-to-head in a two-legged play-off to determine the remaining entries for the last-16 stage.
Teams finishing between 25th-36th are completely knocked out of all European competition for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

Arsenal and Manchester City record first wins as Celtic thrashed
Tuesday’s UCL matchday 2 results saw Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester City pick up their first wins in the new league phase.
The Gunners got the better of PSG at the Emirates with first-half goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka securing the points for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Saka now has more Champions League goal contributions than Erling Haaland since the start of last season. The England star is one ahead of the Norwegian striker.
Elsewhere, Scottish Premiership side Celtic were humbled 7-1 against Borussia Dortmund. Karim Adeyemi scored a first-half hat-trick against the Hoops with Serhou Guirassy hitting a brace.
Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen, Brest and Inter also recorded resounding victories. The only draws came in Stuttgart and Eindhoven.

UCL Matchday 2 Results On Wednesday
Aston Villa shock Bayern Munich as holders Real Madrid lose to Lille
Current holders and 15-time winners Real Madrid were on the receiving end to a surprise defeat to Ligue 1 side Lille. Jonathan David scored the only goal of the game from the spot in first-half stoppage time.
Bayern Munich suffered their third Champions League loss at the hands of an Unai Emery side. The Spaniard led Aston Villa to a 1-0 win to make it three wins with three different clubs against the Bundesliga giants.
Arne Slot’s Liverpool kept up their 100% start with a straightforward victory over Bologna. Alexis Mac Allister and Mo Salah scored in a 2-0 win at Anfield.
Meanwhile, Portuguese side Benfica thrashed Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid 4-0. Atalanta, Club Brugge, Feyenoord and Juventus also picked up three valuable points.
The only draw on Wednesday night came between Dinamo Zagreb and Monaco. The game finished 2-2 which was a huge improvement on Zagreb’s 9-2 thrashing on matchday 1.
