The Tottenham vs Arsenal referee has been announced as Jarred Gillett – leaving a plethora of Gunners fans furious with the decision.

Many were quick to voice their concerns at the appointment on X, formerly Twitter. Amazingly, the north London derby will be the second time this season that Gillett has officiated an Arsenal fixture in the Premier League.

Last year, ers blasted Gillett for failing to allow a Kai Havertz equaliser in the 1-0 defeat away to Aston Villa. Naturally, fans have not forgotten about the incident.

Sunday’s clash will see Darren Cann and James Mainwaring employed as Gillett’s assistants. Robert Jones will act as fourth official with VAR duties falling to Stuart Attwell and Constantine Hatzidakis.

The appointment of Jarred Gillett as the Tottenham vs Arsenal referee will see the Australian official come under the spotlight once again.

Overseeing the north London derby is certainly not a role for the faint-hearted. However, Gillett is regarded as one of the Premier League’s ‘better’ officials.

In the seven Premier League games involving Tottenham that Gillett has overseen, the Lilywhites have won four times and lost the other three.

Yves Bissouma is the only Spurs player to be shown a red card by Gillett. That came in last season’s clash at the City Ground against Nottingham Forest.

Arsenal have had Gillett in the middle five times in the English top-flight. The Gunners have won four of those fixtures with the only blemish coming in the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

Subsequently, the Premier League’s appointment of Jarred Gillett as the Arsenal vs Tottenham referee brought about a series of fierce reactions on X, formerly Twitter.

Gunners ers feel their task has been made much harder with Gillett. Especially with playmaker and captain Martin Odegaard almost certain to miss out via injury and Declan Rice suspended.

Spurs fans will be quietly confident at the announcement of Gillett. Especially as the ref is the same nationally as boss Ange Postecoglou.
