Mohamed Salah is rapidly climbing up the list for the most goal involvements in a Premier League season.

The Egyptian provided his 17th assist of the season in the 2-0 victory over Newcastle on Wednesday night. The result moved Liverpool 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

He also tops the scoring charts this season with 25 goals – giving him a total goal involvement of 42 in the Premier League so far this season.

There is still 11 games left to play and Salah could find himself at the top of this list come the end of the season.

Here, SportsCasting names the players who make the top 10 for goal involvements in a Premier League season, from 10th to 1st.

10 Most Goal Involvements In A Premier League Season

Thierry Henry (2004-05) – 39

25 Goals, 14 Assists

Though Chelsea romped to the title under Jose Mourinho, Thierry Henry was at his perennial best during the 2004-05 season.

He played with a flair and arrogance that at times made him unstoppable. 20 of his 39 goal involvements this campaign came in the opening 13 games alone.

This isn’t the only time that he makes this list.

Didier Drogba (2009-10) – 39

29 Goals, 10 Assists

Didier Drogba had his best season for Chelsea, making 39 goal contributions in 32 games to help them win the title under Carlo Ancelotti.

The Ivorian bullied Premier League defenders all season-long as they struggled to contain his strength and pace.

He claimed a hat-trick against Wigan on the final day to help them seal the title over Manchester United.

Robin Van Persie (2011-12) – 39

30 Goals, 9 Assists

Arsenal finished third in the Premier League some 19 points off the champions – despite Robin van Persie’s best efforts.

Van Persie won the Golden Boot with 30 goals which were worth 24 points to Arsenal over the course of the season.

The happy relationship between player and club would end that summer though as he left for Manchester United – where he again won the Golden Boot but along with the Premier League title.

Mohamed Salah (2024-25) – 42

25 Goals, 17 Assists and counting

The Liverpool star is enjoying himself a career season with the Reds on course to win their second Premier League title with a 13-point gap to Arsenal.

Mohamed Salah is rapidly closing on the record which he will surely beat if he carries on this form over the last 10 games of the season.

He is the first player to both score and assist in 10+ games in one of Europe’s big five leagues since Lionel Messi did so in 2014-15 for Barcelona (11).

Mohamed Salah (2017-18) – 42

32 Goals, 10 Assists

Mohamed Salah is enjoying his best season since his first year at Liverpool in 2017-18.

Though Liverpool fans were excited by the g of Salah from AS Roma, nobody would have expected him to make the debut season he did at Liverpool, or see him go on to become the player he is today.

Salah has already provided more assists in 2024-25 than he did in 2017-18. He needs seven more goals to match his tally of 32 from seven years ago.

Luis Suarez (2013-14) – 43

31 goals, 12 Assists

Luis Suarez is fifth on this list despite missing the first five games due to suspension after biting Branislav Ivanovic the previous season.

The Uruguayan had a stunning season full of world-class goals – including three in his four-goal performance against Norwich City.

Liverpool faltered late on in their bid to win the title that season. Suarez would have deserved a title win that season for his performances and his excellent partnership with Daniel Sturridge.

Thierry Henry (2002-03) – 44

24 Goals, 20 Assists

Thierry Henry is regarded as the best player of the Premier League era and this season showed just why – even if Arsenal didn’t win the title.

Teams struggled to deal with his goalscoring prowess and creativity. To date this is the only season where a player has reached 20+ in goals and assists.

Mohamed Salah needs just three more assists this season to become the second player to hit 20 for goals and assists.

Erling Haaland (2022-23) – 44

36 Goals, 8 Assists

Erling Haaland arrived at Manchester City in the summer of 2022 and no team could deal with him.

He netted three hat-tricks in his first seven Premier League games alone and his 36 goals led City to the Premier League title.

Haaland holds the record for most goals in a 38-game Premier League season. Salah will find it difficult to break this record as he would need to average over a goal-per-game across Liverpool’s remaining 10 fixtures.

Andrew Cole (1993-94) – 47

34 Goals, 13 Assists

Andrew Cole tore up the Premier League for Newcastle in the 1993-94 season – carrying his side to a third-place finish.

He ended the season as the outright top-scorer and assister in the Premier League – with none of his goals coming from the penalty spot.

Cole would make the controversial move to Manchester United mid-way through the next campaign.

Alan Shearer – (1994-95) – 47

34 Goals, 13 Assists

Andrew Cole tops this list alongside Alan Shearer, with the latter firing Blackburn Rovers to an unlikely Premier League title in the 1994-95 season.

From 1993-1996, he managed 30+ goals in the league three seasons in a row and was a true natural goalscorer. His Premier League record of 260 goals is unlikely to be beaten any time soon.

While Cole and Shearer top this list, their totals come from a time where there was 42 games a season. Should Salah sur 47 goal involvements in the Premier League this season, the fact that it would be from a 38-game season would make this record even more impressive.
