The points were shared in North London on Sunday as Fulham were able to hold Tottenham to a point despite getting a late red card – watch the full highlights below.
10-Man Fulham Hold Spurs
Both James Maddison and Alex Iwobi hit the woodwork in the first half, but Tottenham and Fulham were level at the break after a fairly uneventful first 45.
The game really burst into life during the second period and it took Brennan Johnson just under ten minutes to finally break the deadlock for Tottenham.
Timo Werner was a late call-up to the Spurs lineup after Dominic Solanke withdrew from the squad with illness and the German took his chance to shine, with a delightful chipped cross to Johnson at the back post to assist the first goal.
Johnson couldn’t miss from five yards out and he volleyed home from close range to give Spurs the lead. The game’s opener was the Welshman’s sixth goal of the season and his third in the last four matches.
But Tottenham weren’t in front for long, as just over ten minutes after taking the lead they were pegged back by a stunning Tom Cairney strike.
Alex Iwobi made his way into the box and his cutback found Cairney in space, with the substitute whipping a vicious strike past Fraser Forster into the back of the net.
Cairney went from hero to zero late in the day, as the Scot was shown a straight red in the 83rd minute. Fulham’s second dismissal of the season was a fair one, as VAR overturned the yellow shown to Cairney for bringing his studs down on the back of Dejan Kulusevski’s calf in a nasty challenge.
Despite the red card, Tottenham couldn’t make their pressure count in the late stages of Sunday’s game as the points were shared in North London.

A draw for Tottenham isn’t the end of the world, but Ange Postecoglou’s side will feel that thy deserved more from the game especially after Cairney’s late dismissal.
Sunday’s result means Spurs drop down to seventh in the table, with a tricky away fixture at Bournemouth next up on Thursday.
A point will feel more like three for Fulham, who never looked like winning away from home. The Cottagers will now look forward to a mid week Premier League clash back at Craven Cottage against Brighton on Thursday.
