UFC heavyweight Tom Aspinall has spoken out about the lacklustre atmosphere during UFC London at the O2 Arena, describing it as “flat as hell”.

Tom Aspinall Criticises the UFC London Crowd

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Tom Aspinall shared his disappointment with the crowd’s energy at UFC London.

“To be honest with you, it was flat as hell in the O2 Arena on Saturday night,” he said. “I was quite disappointed… We needed something.

“A couple of years ago, UK MMA was absolutely banging. We’ve still got so much talent, but we just need that excitement. The last few shows in the O2, we just haven’t had it, unfortunately.”

Aspinall Teases Update on Potential Jon Jones Fight

In the same interview, Aspinall also revealed details of a meeting with UFC executives in London, teasing “big news” about a potential Jon Jones fight.

Aspinall revealed that the meeting went very well, providing him with clarity on his future direction in the UFC. “I feel like we’re in a good spot right now,” Aspinall said.

While some fans have expressed concern about Jones holding up the heavyweight division, Aspinall expressed a more positive outlook.

He made it clear that the potential Champion vs Champion fight with Jones is still a very real possibility, even if progress had been slower than expected.

“It’s only been seven months [since my last fight], and I’m not really bothered about the wait. What matters is that I’m working hard, and the fight will happen at the right time.”

For Aspinall, the fight against Jones is not just about securing a paycheck but about proving he’s the best in the world.

“What I want is to be undisputed heavyweight champion,” he reiterated.

Will Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall Ever Happen?

The long-awaited Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall fight has captured the imagination of UFC fans worldwide, and with good reason.

Jones, the current UFC heavyweight champion, has made it clear that he is only interested in big-money matchups, with some hinting at a potential fight against former light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.

However, with Pereira’s recent loss to Magomed Ankalaev, the possibility of Jones facing Aspinall has become a real possibility again.

Aspinall remains optimistic, believing that the fight with Jones is inevitable. “I think it’s just a matter of time before the fight happens. I’d rather fight sooner than later, but I’m confident it’ll be the right time,” he said.
