Tiger Woods suffered one of the most ’embarrassing moments’ of his career with a bizarre yardage mix-up in his latest outing in the TGL.

The league, launched by Woods and Rory McIlroy, sees players hit their shots into a giant simulator before chipping and putting around a constructed course.

Woods was playing for the Jupiter Links team alongside Kevin Lisner and Tom Kim. It was his first appearance since he announced the death of his mother Kultida, earlier this month.

He left himself 199 yards to the hole on his 13th after his tee shot. What followed was a moment that left his teammates in stitches of laughter and left Woods flummoxed.

As a perplexed Woods tried to work out what happened, Jupiter teammates Kevin Kisner and Tom Kim dropped to the floor in laughter.

Woods was heard questioning his caddie after his shot saying: “You said 99 yards.”

Although the golf icon did hear correctly, caddies often drop the first number when they deem the yardage to be obvious.

Speaking after the blunder, the 15-time major champion told ESPN: “One of the most embarrassing moments in my golfing career just happened. I just screwed up. That was embarrassing.”

Woods lost the hole to Cameron Young but ultimately his mistake didn’t prove to be a defining one. Tiger Woods and his Jupiter Links were resoundingly beaten 10-3 by New York Golf Club in the TGL.

What Is TGL?

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy helped create the TGL – a technology-infused golf league.

The Tomorrow Golf League features six teams of four PGA Tour golfers.

It is a 3-on-3 golf league with stars taking part in two-hour matches inside the SoFi Center – TGL’s custom-built venue in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

There are two sessions per match with the first session including triples, a nine-hole, 3-on-3, alternate-shot format.

The second session is singles, players go one-on-one for six holes, with each golfer playing two holes during the session.

Other stars taking part include Ludvig Aberg, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Hideki Matsuyama and more.

The huge golf simulator screen measures 64ft by 53ft and also has a rotating green that sits on a 41-yard turntable.

TGL golf dates saw the event start on Tuesday 7th January – with the showdown Finals Series on March 24th.
