Thomas Tuchel ‘In Pole Position’ To Become England Manager
Former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel is reportedly in advanced talks with the Football Association over becoming the new England manager, with Sky Sports News reporting that the German is ‘in pole position’ for the job.
Rob Dorsett broke the news on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday afternoon, revealing that the FA have accelerated their search for Gareth Southgate’s permanent replacement following the Three Lions’ 2-1 defeat to Greece and after Lee Carsley seemingly ruled himself out of the role.

The interim England boss, speaking to ITV, said that the Three Lions ‘deserve’ a world-class coach that has won trophies, itting that he’s still on the path to doing that.
“People are always going to try to put their chips to one side. I’m totally in the middle,” he said. “My bosses have made it totally clear what they need from me.
“This job deserves a world-class coach that’s won trophies and been and done it. I’m still on the path to doing that.”
It now appears as if Tuchel is the FA’s ideal choice to take over from Carlsey, with the UK’s best football betting sites heavily favouring the 51-year-old to become the next permanent England manager.
Sky Sports‘ report confirmed that Jurgen Klopp, Graham Potter and Eddie Howe were also considered as leading candidates for the job, while the FA also made an enquiry to Pep Guardiola’s representatives, reportedly to no avail.
Tuchel’s appointment would see him become the third non-English manager to lead the Three Lions, following in the footsteps of the late Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.
England return to Nations League action next month, in what will likely be Carsley’s final camp with the team, as they take on Greece in Athens before rounding off Group B2 against the Republic of Ireland.
