The Marcus Rashford nine years ago.

Lewis-Skelly also jumps into the top 10 in the list of the youngest players to score for England.

Here, SportsCasting takes a look at where Lewis-Skelly ranks alongside other players to score for the Three Lions at a young age.

Who Is The Youngest Player To Score For England?

10 – Joe Baker (19 years, 5 months and 1 day)

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Joe Baker sits just inside the top 10 for the youngest players to score for England.

Baker scored three goals in eight appearances for the Three Lions between 1959 and 1966. His first came in a 2-1 friendly victory over Northern Ireland in November 1959.

9 – Jude Bellingham (19 years, 4 months and 23 days)

Jude Bellingham makes the top 10 despite taking two years to score his first goal after making his senior international debut.

His first goal, a header from a Luke Shaw cross, opened the scoring in England’ 6-2 victory over Iran at the 2022 World Cup.

This made him England’s second youngest goalscorer at a World Cup.

Jude Bellingham is the ninth youngest player in history to score for England

8 – Jimmy Greaves (19 years, 2 months and 27 days)

The legendary Jimmy Greaves is England’s fifth all-time top goalscorer with 44 goals in 57 games. This is a higher scoring rate than the four players ahead of him –Wayne Rooney, Bobby Charlton and Jimmy Greaves.

He scored his first goal on his international debut in May 1959. However, this was the only goal for England in a 4-1 thumping by Peru.

7 – Micah Richards (19 years, 2 months and 15 days)

Micah Richards ‘exploded onto the scene’ as he likes to put it when it came to his club and international career.

The popular TV pundit made his England debut in November 2006 – becoming one of the top 10 youngest England debutants.

His first goal came in a 3-0 win against Israel in September of the following year. It was his one and only international goal in 13 appearances.

Micah Richards is the seventh youngest player to score for England

6 – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (19 years, 1 month and 27 days)

Former Arsenal and Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made his England debut ahead of Euro 2012 in a warm-up friendly against Norway.

He had to wait until October later the same year to net his first goal for the Three Lions in a 5-0 win over San Marino.

Chamberlain would net a total of seven goals in his 35 appearances for England.

5 – Tommy Lawton (19 years and 16 days)

Tommy Lawton had a stunning score rate of 22 goals in 23 appearances for England between 1938 and 1948.

That total could have been considerably higher given that he netted a further 24 goals between 1939 and 1946 which did not count to his statistics. That was because these were played in ‘unofficial matches’ due to the Second World War.

His first goal for England came in October 1938 in a 4-2 defeat by Wales.

4 – Marcus Rashford (18 years, six months and 26 days)

Marcus Rashford exploded onto the scene and was called up to England’s Euro 2016 squad, less than four months after making his Manchester United debut.

He made his debut during a pre-tournament friendly against Australia at the Stadium of Light.

Rashford scored just three minutes into a 2-1 win becoming the youngest England player to score on their debut – at the time.

3 – Myles Lewis-Skelly (18 years, 5 months and 23 days)

Myles Lewis-Skelly snatched the record for the youngest player to score on their England debut during the 2-0 win over Albania on Friday night.

The Arsenal star was played through by Jude Bellingham and showed maturity beyond his years with the calibre of his finish.

It is another promising sign for Lewis-Skelly who appears to have a huge future in the game.

2 – Michael Owen (18 years, 5 months and 13 days)

Michael Owen was just 10 days younger than Myles Lewis-Skelly when he became England’s youngest-ever scorer at the time.

The former Liverpool and Manchester United striker scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Morocco in May 1998.

Less than a month later, he put his name on the international stage by scoring against Romania and Argentina at the World Cup in – the latter of which is one of the Three Lions’ greatest-ever goals.

1 – Wayne Rooney (17 years, 10 months and 13 days)

Wayne Rooney is the youngest ever player to score for England

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney is the youngest ever player to score for England – and the only in history to score for the Three Lions at the age of 17.

Rooney scored his first goal in a 2-1 Euro 2004 qualifier victory against Macedonia in September 2003.

He went on to score a further 52 goals for the Three Lions – with only Harry Kane above him in England’s all-time scoring list.
