Swansea Vs Burnley Preview

Swansea will be aiming to get back to winning ways after their 1-0 loss to Watford on Wednesday. 2019 Champions League runner-up Moussa Sissoko scored the only goal of the game at Vicarage Road.

Prior to their defeat in Hertfordshire, the Swans picked up seven points from their last three outings without conceding a single goal.

As it stands, a top-half finish is the best the Welsh side can aim for. They are 11 points above the drop zone and 12 off the playoffs with nine games to go.

Caretaker boss Alan Sheehan has done a valiant job since filling the void left by Luke Williams four weeks ago. The Irishman’s only blemish was that defeat to the Hornets last time out.

Saturday afternoon provides arguably Sheehan’s biggest test. The visitors are pushing hard at the top of the table as they seek an immediate return to the Premier League.

Burnley will be aiming to keep the pressure on Leeds and Sheffield United at the top of the Championship table. As it stands, the Clarets are two points off the automatic promotion places.

Scott Parker’s side have been famously hard to score against this season which has been the driving factor behind their lofty league position.

However, West Brom’s John Swift scored a peach of a free-kick against James Trafford during Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Turf Moor.

Although the Clarets couldn’t find a winner, they’ll be keen to complete a league double over Saturday’s opponents. Jay Rodriguez scored a 94th minute penalty in the 1-0 victory in November.

Ahead of this weekend’s clash, the best football betting sites in the UK price Burnley as the 29/25 favourites. Swansea are 14/5 with the draw 23/10.

Swansea Vs Burnley Team News

Star defender Harry Darling is a doubt for Swansea. The 25-year-old suffered a hip injury in the 1-0 victory against Middlesbrough last week.

Kristian Pedersen and Myles Peart-Harris are definitely ruled out. Loanee Hannes Delcroix will have to set this one out as he is ineligible to face his parent club.

As for the visitors, Burnley will have CJ Egan-Riley available. The England U21 man was sent off in the dying embers of the midweek draw against West Brom but his red card was rescinded on appeal.

Lyle Foster is rated 50/50. The forward suffered what appeared to be a dead leg against the Baggies. Elsewhere, Aaron Ramsey also misses out through injury.

Swansea Vs Burnley Predicted Lineups

Swansea (4-2-3-1): Vigouroux; Key, Naughton, Cabango, Tymon; O’Brien, Franco; Ronald, Cullen, Eom; Vipotnik

Burnley (4-2-3-1): Trafford; Roberts, Esteve, Egan-Riley, Pires; Cullen, Brownhill; Edwards, Hannibal, Koleosho; Flemming

Swansea Vs Burnley Prediction

Swansea don’t have much to play for and Burnley have everything to play for. With that in mind, we are predicting the Clarets to take home all three points from South Wales.

Defensively, Scott Parker’s side have been rock solid all season and we expect the Lancashire side to add another clean sheet to their impressive 2024/25 tally.

Prediction: Swansea 0-2 Burnley
