Stunning Enes Unal Free-Kick Rescues Draw For Bournemouth Against West Ham

West Ham looked to have won it when Lucas Paqueta scored an 87th-minute penalty.

But the hosts – who had been kept at bay by a superb display from Irons keeper Lukasz Fabianski – snatched a point at the death to deny their opponents a second successive victory.

Polish shot-stopper Fabianski had denied each of Justin Kluivert, Semenyo, Ryan Christie and Evanilson as the Cherries threw the kitchen sink at West Ham.

Numerous chances went begging for Bournemouth, with the hosts ing a staggering 29 shots – nine of them on target.

But it was West Ham who eventually took the lead just three minutes from the end.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s cross caught the hand of Tyler Adams in the Bournemouth box, and referee Chris Kavanagh eventually awarded the penalty after consulting with VAR.

Paqueta stepped up and calmly slotted from the spot to put his side ahead and on course for victory. But it would not end that way.

As the clock ticked towards the red, Unal was given one last roll of the dice from 30 yards out.

The Turkish international curled a dazzling effort into the top corner to finally beat Fabianski, who could do little about it.

Andoni Iraola’s Cherries now climb to sixth in the table thanks to a well-earned point. West Ham remain 14th after beating Wolves a week ago.

Julen Lopetegui can sit a little more comfortably in the West Ham dugout after taking four points from his last two games.

Emerging victorious against Wolves in ‘El Sackico’ seems to have eased pressure on the Irons boss – for now at least.

They are now seven points clear of the bottom three and can begin to look up the table if they can pick up some more results.

For Bournemouth, they have now gone four games unbeaten, and are knocking on the door of Europe.

The Cherries are just two points below fifth-placed Manchester City, and three shy of the Champions League places.
