Spurs run riot in 4-1 demolition of West Ham in London Derby

Tottenham Hotspur returned to winning ways with a 4-1 demolition of London rivals West Ham United in the early kick-off on Saturday.

Ange Postecoglou‘s men looked fresh and rejuvenated coming back from the international break but that couldn’t prevent an early scare for the hosts when Mohammed Kudus put West Ham in front after 18 minutes.

The Ghana international bagged for the second Premier League game running, meeting Jarrod Bowen’s delivery inside the area and converting past Guglielmo Vicario.

Spurs responded quickly to level the game before half-time as Dejan Kulusevski scored his second goal in three games, finding space inside the edge of the area and cutting inside on his favoured left foot before firing home off of both posts.

A clever bit of play from left-back Destiny Udogie set up Yves Bissouma to put Spurs in front shortly after the break and the lead was doubled three minutes later when a defensive mix-up between Alphonse Areola and Jean-Clair Todibo gifted them a third.

In a flash the score became 4-1 to Spurs courtesy of Heung-min Son, skipping past Todibo with a few tricky stepovers and finding the back of the net to give Postecoglou’s side a strong cushion in front.

Tottenham moved up into sixth with the win, just a point adrift the Champions League places and the result marked an important win from the club, bouncing back from an embarrassing 3-2 loss at Brighton last time out.

Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui could come under serious pressure following a fourth winless encounter in West Ham’s last five games and a late red card for Kudus won’t do the club any favours ahead of their clash against Manchester United next week.
