Scotland will face Greece in the Nations League playoff in March as Steve Clarke’s side have their opponents confirmed.

With the Scots finishing third in their Nations League A group, they must beat League B group runners-up Greece to maintain their top-flight status.

The playoff will take place over two legs, on 20 and 23 March. First, Scotland will travel to Greece before hosting the second leg at Hampden Park.

Scotland’s Nations League campaign was a decent showing for their first appearance in League A.

They beat Croatia and Poland in their last two fixtures, having drawn with Portugal in October.

Although losing to each of their three opponents, they were never beaten by more than one goal, and finished the campaign seven points – just one below Croatia.

Greece, meanwhile, had an excellent campaign. They won five from six games in League B Group 2, including a 2-1 win against England at Wembley.

The Greeks only finished behind England on goal difference, with both sides ending on 15 points.

Currently 42nd in the FIFA World Rankings, Greece are nine places above Scotland as it stands.

Greece and Scotland have only met twice in the two sides’ history. In qualifying for Euro ’96, both nations won the home ties 1-0.
