Scotland will host Poland at Hampden Park in the Nations League on Thursday, with their squad value £20 million more than Poland’s.

The Scots are back in action for the first time since they were knocked out in the Group Stages of Euro 2024.

A 5-1 thumping against hosts was followed by a spirited 1-1 draw with Switzerland. But needing a win to go through, they lost 1-0 to Hungary in added time.

Poland endured an equally poor Euros. Defeats to the Netherlands and Austria meant their 1-1 draw with counted for nothing, as they too crashed out at the first hurdle.

Now, the two sides meet in Group 1 of the Nations League, with both hoping to improve on their summer showing.

Steve Clarke’s Scotland are not used to the ‘favourites’ tag. However, the stats suggest they may have the better squad man-for-man.

Using data from Transfermarkt, we have compared the squad values of Scotland and Poland. The figures show that Scotland’s players are worth around £20m more than their opponents.

While marginal, it demonstrates there is quality in Scotland’s ranks. Home fans will certainly be hoping that quality shines through on Thursday night.

Below, we have listed the value of each player in both Scotland and Poland’s squads.
