Top UK female jockey Saffie Osborne will be jetting off to the US this weekend as she’s been booked to ride Heart Of Honor for her dad Jamie in the $2m Preakness Stakes – which is the second leg of the US Triple Crown.

Saffie Osborne Looks To Create History With 2025 Preakness Stakes Win at Pimlico

Fresh off the news that female jump jockey Rachael Blackmore, who broke many records when riding, is hanging up her riding boots – we could see another milestone reached this Saturday as Saffie Osborne has been booked for a ride in the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico, Baltimore – by her dad.

No lady rider has ever won the Preakness Stakes.

Osborne, who is the daughter of trainer and former jump jockey Jamie Osborne, has landed a key ride on the family-trained 3 year-old HEART OF HONOR at Pimlico this weekend.

The $2m Preakness Stakes is the second leg of the US Triple Crown – coming two weeks after the Kentucky Derby – and three weeks before the Belmont Stakes, which is the final race in the series.

Heart Of Honor is trained in Lambourn, UK by Jamie Osborne and is no stranger to running overseas – having raced five times at Meydan, Dubai.

He was last seen running an excellent nose second in the Group 2 UAE Derby (watch below) – and on that effort is certainly not without a chance in Saturday’s Preakness Stakes, where he’ll take on the Kentucky Derby runner-up Journalism.

The horse has been ridden by Saffie Osborne in his last two races – finishing second both times.

Heart Of Honor, who is yet to finish out of the top two, also has the ideal pedigree for US racing – with his sire 2020 Santa Anita Derby winner Honor A.P and is also related to former Breeders’ Cup Classic winner A.P. Indy.

No UK trainer has ever won the Preakness Stakes either – with US handler Bob Baffert, who runs Goal Oriented in 2025, the winning-most stable with eight wins.

No Female Jockey Has Ever Won The Preakness Stakes

Saffie Osborne will also be looking to cement her name in the US horse racing hall-of-fame – as no female jockey has ever won the Preakness Stakes.

New Jersey-born jockey Rosie Napravnik has come closest in the race for the ladies – she was third on the D Wayne Lukas-trained Oxbow in 2013.

What Time Will The Preakness Stakes Be Shown In The UK?

The Preakness Stakes will be broadcast at around 7:00pm ET – so with the US-England time difference this means UK horse racing fans can expect to see Saffie Osborne in action at 12:01 GMT – Sunday 18th May.
