Ruben Amorim looks to have confirmed at least five of his Man United coaching staff after they were pictured catching a private jet to Manchester alongside the 39-year-old.

Portuguese media pictured Ruben Amorim catching a flight to Manchester Airport to begin in his new role as Manchester United boss on Monday morning, and the former Portugal international was ed on the flight by five coaches.

Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido, Paulo Berreira, Emanuel Ferro and Jorge Vital were all seen boarding the 11am flight from Beja, and they are all expected to form part of Amorim’s coaching staff at Old Trafford.

Candido, Ferra and Fernandes were all part of Amorim’s first-team coaching set-up at Sporting, Vital was his goalkeeping coach, and Barreira is a sports scientist. Fitness coach Goncalo Alvaro has also been tipped to follow the Portuguese manager to Manchester, however he wasn’t spotted on the flight.

Fernandes, who is expected to be named assistant manager at Manchester United, confirmed his departure from the Liga Portugal champions in an Instagram post on Sunday evening.

His post read: “The adventure that changed my life… so many moments that I will cherish forever. There is no other feeling than eternal gratitude towards those who helped us create something so special: players for whom there are no words, colleagues who became friends and everyone who always ed us. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!”

Amorim and his coaches are due to arrive in Manchester on Monday afternoon, where he is set to hold talks with current interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy over his future at the club.

Van Nistelrooy led his former club to a four-game unbeaten run during his short tenure in charge, and Amorim confirmed following Sporting’s win over Braga on Sunday that he will hold talks with the Dutchman, who he says has done a ‘great job’ following the departure of Erik ten Hag towards the end of last month.

“A legend of the club. He did a great job,” he said. “I have to talk with him tomorrow. Then I will explain everything. I am very clear and I will tell you like it is. Let’s wait until tomorrow.”

Amorim is set to take charge of his first game as United boss in around two weeks time, following the international window, as the Red Devils head to Portman Road to take on Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
