Manchester United legend Roy Keane claims Marcus Rashford is playing like ‘everything is a bit of a chore to him’, and believes that the 27-year-old needs to rekindle his ‘love for the game’ under Ruben Amorim.
After coming under fire for jetting off to the United States to watch an NBA game during the international window, questions are now being asked over where Marcus Rashford will fit into Ruben Amorim’s squad.
The 27-year-old has just one goal to his name in the Premier League thus far in 2024/25, so Red Devils fans will be desperate for a resurgence in form under his new head coach.
Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of Ipswich vs Manchester United on Sunday, the , which included Jamie Redknapp, Izzy Christiansen and Roy Keane, discussed the 60-time England international’s work rate, with the latter suggesting that he plays like ‘everything is a bit of a chore to him’.

“The worry for [Marcus] Rashford as well, and we seem to talk about him a lot because we know he can do it, he never looks like he’s enjoying it that much, that’s the biggest worry for me,” Keane said.
“Listen, we can all be moody, and when you’re playing the game, obviously you’re under pressure. The attacking players have to score goals and get assists, but even when he scores, it just looks like everything is a bit of a chore to him.”
The Irishman continued, claiming that Rashford needs to rekindle a ‘childhood-like’ love for the sport.
“Hopefully with a new manager coming in, a new voice, it’ll give him that ‘go and express yourself and why you play the game of football – because you enjoy it’.
“I think Marcus needs to get back to that, that proper childhood-like love for the game. He seems to have lost that a little bit.”

Rashford is among the favourites to score at anytime at Portman Road on Sunday, according to the UK’s best football betting sites, while bookmakers are also favouring United to come out on top in Suffolk.
