Roy Keane has dismissed suggestions that Manchester United were wrong to let Jadon Sancho leave for Chelsea.
Sancho left the Red Devils under a cloud after his public falling out with previous boss Erik ten Hag. The 24-year-old was allowed to Chelsea in the summer on a season-long loan. There is an option to make the move permanent next summer for £25million.
The England star has since thrived at Stamford Bridge under Conference League.
And now that United are under new management with Ruben Amorim, there have been calls to turn over a new leaf with Sancho and bring him back.
Roy Keane: Manchester United Were Not Wrong In Offloading Jadon Sancho
While Roy Keane isn’t convinced that bringing the winger back would produce the same results.
“I think Sancho’s definitely got something,” Keane said on The Overlap. “But I also look at some lads go to other clubs from United, and they’ll do well, and people go, ‘Well, we shouldn’t have [sold them]’.
“No, you’re doing alright because that club’s a better fit for you. We all know sometimes it’s timing for a player.
“I’m not saying Sancho’s the answer to come back to Man United. Maybe Chelsea’s a good fit for him.
“He likes it in London, whatever it might be, the manager down there, who knows? So I’m not saying that you’d get Sancho back in a hurry.”
Is There A Future For Jadon Sancho At Old Trafford?
During his turbulent time at Manchester United, Jadon Sancho was sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund after being banished from first-team training for four months.
Sancho and Ten Hag fell out publicly after the winger criticised the Dutch manager on social media.
The England international claimed he was being made a scapegoat by Ten Hag which saw him frozen out at United.
This eventually led to Sancho being loaned to Chelsea where he has rediscovered his best football. As a part of his loan deal, Sancho can the Blues permanently should they finish in the top 14. This looks nailed-on at the time of writing – barring any major collapse from Chelsea.
His resurgence has made some United fans yearn for his return in the hope he can reproduce the same performances for Amorim.
But whether Sancho wants to try again at United is another thing altogether.
