Real Madrid eye £50m Diogo Dalot move in event of Alexander-Arnold U-turn

Spanish giants Real Madrid are targeting Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot this month if Trent Alexander-Arnold changes his mind.

Madrid’s recent offer to sign Alexander-Arnold for around £20 million was knocked back by Liverpool, who have no intention of losing one of their star men during the season.

As per the best football betting sites, the Merseyside outfit are a best-price 1/4 to lift what would be a record-equalling 20th league title in May.

According to iNews, if Los Blancos can’t land Alexander-Arnold in January, they’ll turn their attention to another right-back from one of Liverpool‘s biggest rivals.

Manchester United‘s Dalot, 25, is the subject of interest from the reigning La Liga champions and it has been reported that Madrid would rather sign him in January than wait for Alexander-Arnold’s contract to expire in the summer.

The right-back position at the Bernabeu is up for grabs following Dani Carvajal’s ACL tear in October and Carlo Ancelotti’s side are looking for a quick solution.

Dalot has featured in every Red Devils outing so far this season and he’s the current holder of United’s Players’ Player of the Year award but like the majority of his teammates, his form has taken a dip.

iNews have suggested that the funds from selling Dalot could be used to target Sporting Lisbon frontman Viktor Gyokeres later this year – with United looking in desperate need of a goalscoring number nine.

Real Madrid are desperate for a right-back after Dani Carvajal’s injury, hence the Trent bid now.

Liverpool deny reports that Alexander-Arnold has agreed to Real Madrid

Last week, Spanish tabloid newspaper Marca reported that Alexander-Arnold had agreed to Madrid when his Anfield contract expires at the end of the season.

Liverpool have been quick to dismiss those claims and the Reds are hoping to re-enter negotiations in the near future to try and tie the 26-year-old down for the foreseeable future.

As of today, January 1, Alexander-Arnold can officially speak to other clubs about a move in the summer and Madrid are keen to get a pre-contract agreement sorted as soon as possible.
