Andrew heads Sedgefield and the evening all-weather action at Chelmsford for his two stats-based selections on Thursday, November 14th…

SEDGEFIELD 2.25

ILLOGICAL LOGIC (system – Christian Williams, first-time cheekpieces)

Since the beginning of 2019, Christian Williams has a ten from 42 record when fitting one of his runners with first-time cheekpieces and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £24.00 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 5.23, A/E = 1.91). The long travellers (those sent more than 250 miles from the trainer’s Welsh base) were five from ten (+£11.00) including one from one here at Sedgefield. ILLOGICAL LOGIC is a ten-race maiden, but he wasn’t beaten far when second at Fakenham last time and the headgear could bring about improvement.

CHELSMFORD 6.30

CUBAN LYNX (system – Mick Appleby, stable switchers)

Mick Appleby has a fine record at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, scoring with 106 of the 590 qualifiers (18%) for a profit of £327.52 to a £1 level stake at SP and he might be able to get a tune out of CUBAN LYNX in this 1m nursery, well drawn in stall 3. The Havana Grey colt was a six-race maiden for Craig Lidster but showed promise on occasions, notably when a 150-1 sixth at Redcar on his final start before he was allotted a handicap mark. He was only beaten by three lengths when a never-nearer 12-1 sixth in a 6f nursery at Newcastle next time and, though well held over 7f the next twice, tonight’s step up to 1m could suit.
