Premier League leaders Liverpool face Championship strugglers Plymouth in the FA Cup on Sunday, and we’ve got the latest team news and predicted lineups, as well as a score prediction included in our preview.

Plymouth vs Liverpool Preview

Championship outfit Plymouth Argyle welcome Premier League leaders Liverpool to Home Park in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday, with both sides coming into the clash off the back of wins in their respective divisions.

Miron Muslic’s side, who are rock bottom of the second tier, came from behind to secure a vital 2-1 victory over West Brom last weekend, following on from an impressive 2-2 draw against high-flying Sunderland.

The Pilgrims advanced past the third round, against all odds, by beating English top-flight side Brentford 1-0 away from home. Could Liverpool become their next scalp? Unlikely, of course, especially when considering their goalscorer against the Bees and previous star player, Morgan Whittaker, has departed for Middlesbrough.

As for the Reds, they overturned their 1-0 deficit in the Carabao Cup semi-final with a mighty 4-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night, while they are also 19 games unbeaten in the league, six points clear at the top.

Eight-time winners of the FA Cup, Liverpool were eliminated by eventual winners Manchester United in the quarter-finals last term. To advance to this stage of the competition, they defeated Accrington Stanley 4-0 in the third round.

Throughout history, Plymouth and Liverpool have met a total of 12 times, with the Reds claiming victory in six fixtures, four ending in draws, and two ending in favour of the Pilgrims. Their most recent clash, an FA Cup third round replay in January 2017, ended in a 1-0 triumph for the Merseyside club.

Plymouth Team News

The hosts are without Kornel Szucs (muscular), Brendan Galloway (hip) and Joe Edwards (hamstring).

January gs Malachi Boateng, Nikola Katic and Maksym Talovierov are all in contention for starts, while Ryan Hardie should come into the lineup after scoring two off the bench against West Brom.

Liverpool Team News

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been ruled out of the trip to Plymouth due to a hamstring injury, ed on the sidelines by midfield youngster Tyler Morton, who is unavailable after suffering a shoulder injury.

It looks to be a clean bill of health for Slot and his squad other than that, and with one eye on Wednesday evening’s Merseyside derby, the Dutchman is expected to make several rotations to his starting lineup.

Plymouth vs Liverpool Predicted Lineups

Plymouth vs Liverpool Prediction

Unsurprisingly, the UK’s best football betting sites have Liverpool as massive 1/7 favourites to prevail in 90 minutes, while a draw is priced at 13/2 and a shock Plymouth win is valued at around 18/1.

Based on form, league standings and the difference in quality between their squads, we at SportsCasting can only see this tie ending in one way, and that’s in a comfortable victory for the Premier League leaders.

Prediction: Plymouth 0-3 Liverpool
