Newcastle’s Lewis Hall is set to miss the remainder of the season after picking up a foot injury.

England international Hall, 20, suffered the injury against Liverpool last month, when his side lost 2-0 in the Premier League.

The news comes as another blow for Eddie Howe’s Magpies, who face Liverpool again in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, 16 March.

Key forward Antony Gordon will also be missing due to suspension.

Lewis Hall Injury Another Setback For Newcastle

In a statement, Newcastle United said: “[Hall will] undergo surgery before a period of rehabilitation with the club’s medical team.

“Everyone at Newcastle United wishes Lewis the very best with his surgery and recovery.”

Hall has made a total of 27 Premier League appearances for Newcastle this season, nailing down a spot in the starting XI as first-choice left-back.

He made his senior international debut in November, coming off the substitutes bench as England beat Greece 3-0 in the Nations League.

A consistent performer this season, Hall was expected to have been named in new Three Lions Thomas Tuchel’s first squad, which will be announced later this week.

As it stands, Newcastle are currently sixth in the Premier League, and still in the hunt for Champions League football.

They sit two points below fifth-placed Chelsea, and three below Manchester City in fourth.

It is thought that the club are in a good position to invest in the squad over the summer, with the latest financial results suggesting they will have money to spend before next season.

Newcastle’s next fixture is a trip to London to face West Ham in the Premier League on Monday, 10 March.

Attention then turns to Wembley, with the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday, 16 March.

The Magpies will be desperate to win their first silverware in many long years, having not lifted any trophies for 70 years.
