Michael Chandler has given a damning response over the possibility of Conor McGregor returning to the UFC as the Irishman continues his ventures elsewhere.

Michael Chandler Dismisses Conor McGregor UFC Return

Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor were set to face off at over eight months ago before the Irishman was forced to pull out with injury.

Since then, McGregor has been involved in a multitude of different situations and a return to the UFC has become increasingly unlikely.

Whereas Chandler has decided to continue his run in the UFC, losing to Charles Oliveira and now agreeing a bout with Paddy Pimblett in April.

Despite taking multiple fights in the absence of McGregor, Iron Mike still has his sights set on an eventual fight with the biggest star in UFC history – which he spoke about in an interview with Ariel Helwani.

Chandler said (Via Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show): “That is the UFC sentiment, and I think it’s even his sentiment. He said that he’s a man of his word well, if you’re a man of your word then there’s only one guy that you’re going to fight when you comeback to the UFC – the guy who had a contract with your name on.

“Heart of hearts is tough man; because I think heart of hearts says Conor is coming back at some point – but if I was a betting man using my brain, I wouldn’t put money on it.

“Conor’s got to come back to his first love. The one thing that has given him every single shiny object he’s currently chasing, all these side-quests and side-jobs, every single thing that he has can be tied back to the UFC and the opportunity they gave him.

“Does he want his legacy to be ‘My last fight I broke my leg, touted the greatest comeback in combat sports history, fooled everybody for a couple of years… Never to return again?’ I don’t think he wants his legacy to be that.”

McGregor has revealed that he plans to take part in a bare-knuckle fight, as he continues to build his investment into BKFC.

The Irish MMA star has not fought in a UFC Octagon since July 2021, where he suffered a nasty leg break in a KO defeat to Dustin Porier.
