Spanish international Martin Zubimendi will undergo a medical with Arsenal ahead of a move to the Emirates this summer.

According to reports, all documents have been signed for the Real Sociedad midfielder to complete a switch to Arsenal.

The player is therefore set to complete a medical before the transfer is confirmed, but all parties are relaxed due to the paperwork being completed already.

Negotiations have been particularly swift due to Zubimendi having a £51 million release clause with Sociedad, which Arsenal have met.

The deal will therefore be announced officially once the 26-year-old es the medical.

Arsenal Land Liverpool Target Martin Zubimendi

In a blow for the newly-crowned Premier League champions, it’s Arsenal, not Liverpool, that are set to sign Zubimendi.

The midfielder reportedly turned down the chance to Arne Slot’s Reds, earlier this year.

He had looked destined to move to Anfield, but instead opted to remain with his boyhood club Real Sociedad.

But in a dramatic twist, he is now heading to the Premier League with Arsenal.

Arsenal Transfer News

Zubimendi has been a long-term target for Mikel Arteta, with the club working on a deal to secure his services for a number of months.

Along with his imminent arrival, it is expected that Arsenal will sign a new striker.

In January, Arsenal had been in talks to sign RB Leipzig star Bejnamin Sesko on an initial loan deal.

They remain interested, and have also been heavily linked with Sporting ’s Viktor Gyokeres.

Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres scored a goal every 92 minutes in 2024,

But while incoming gs will make the headlines, it is equally important that Arsenal don’t lose any of their star players moving in the other direction.

To that end, talks are said to be ongoing over new contracts for a number of players.

Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, Gabriel, Leandro Trossard, Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri are all in discussions with the club regarding new deals.

Why Are Arsenal g Zubimendi?

A product of Real Sociedad’s extremely well-regarded academy, Martin Zubimendi is one of the most in-demand midfielders in world football.

Spanish super clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona have both shown interest, while Liverpool’s rejected approach for him is well-documented.

Predominantly a deep-lying midfielder, he is also capable in more advanced positions if required.

For Arsenal, Mikel Arteta has relied heavily on Thomas Partey in defensive midfield. The Ghanaian is reportedly in talks for a new contract at the Emirates, but Arsenal are in desperate need for added depth in this position.

Arsenal will hope to keep Thomas Partey, with Zubimendi adding depth.

With Arsenal set to sign £51m Martin Zubimendi, he will add more options and create competition.

Since making his Real Sociedad debut in 2019, he has made 239 senior appearances for the San Sebastian outfit.

Last summer, he replaced the injured Rodri in the Euro 2024 final as Spain defeated England 2-1 to secure the title.
