Manchester United are actively pursuing high-profile reinforcements at left-back, with Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies emerging as a prime target, according to reports.

Despite backtracking on the notion of a “mega offer,” the Red Devils remain determined to offer a competitive deal to lure the Canadian defender to Old Trafford next summer.

Amorim Keen To Strengthen At Left Back

Luke Shaw’s ongoing injury struggles have left a void at left back in the Ruben Amorim keen to strengthen the position.

While alternatives such as Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez are under consideration, Davies’ uncertain contract situation at Bayern Munich makes him an attractive option.

The 24-year-old, regarded as one of the best left-backs in the world, is in a contract dispute with the German champions and will be eligible for a free transfer next summer.

Securing Davies’ signature, however, won’t be simple. Real Madrid’s interest in the player looms large, and Bayern Munich may still attempt to resolve the contract standoff.

Yet, United’s ability to offer a fresh start, competitive wages, and a key role in Amorim’s tactical setup could make Old Trafford an appealing destination.

Manchester United’s New Approach To Transfers

United’s interest in Davies is part of a broader strategy under Amorim and sporting director Dan Ashworth to build a squad suited to the Portuguese manager’s 3-4-3 system.

Amorim’s tactical setup places a lot of responsibility on the wing-backs, making a dynamic left-sided player like Davies a key asset.

After spending over £600 million on transfers in recent windows under Erik ten Hag, United are now operating within a more restricted budget.

Despite this, the club is optimistic about attracting top talent, leveraging Amorim’s growing reputation as one of Europe’s brightest managers.

Beyond left-back, United are also laying the groundwork for future gs in other positions. According to Fabrizio Romano, the club have already planned a significant addition in 2025, aligning with their strategic focus on long-term development.

Meanwhile, Amorim has reportedly greenlit a pursuit of Lille midfielder Angel Gomes, formerly of United’s academy, in an effort to beat Liverpool for the England international’s signature.
