It’s fair to say that World Darts Championship at just 17-years-old, ‘The Nuke’ could be the face of darts for decades to come.

Littler has since turned 18, but remain number two in the PDC Order of Merit as well as being the reigning World and Premier League champion. Despite having all of this glory since bursting onto the scene a little over a year ago, the Warrington man insists he won’t be around for ever.

Littler has in fact silenced any talk of him playing darts professional well into his latter years, after revealing that he has a retirement plan in place already. ‘The Nuke’ was vague about his retirement plan, but it seems he doesn’t want to be playing darts forever.

There has been a lot of talk comparing Littler to the great Phil Taylor, who retired when he was 57-years-old. Taylor of course won 16 world titles, with some fans thinking Littler can eclipse that number given how young he is and how many years he could have left in the sport.

However, Luke Littler himself has revealed that he has no desire whatsoever to match ‘The Power’ in world title numbers or age. In fact, the 18-year-old has gone as far as saying that he will stop playing as soon as he loses motivation to succeed.

In a recent interview with professional darts referee Huw Ware on his brand new Tops and Tales Darts Podcast, Luke Littler revealed that he has no desire to be playing darts into his latter years.

In fact, ‘The Nuke’ has revealed that he has no plans to be competing in the sport by the time he is 50-years-old. Although he is only 18, has the world of darts at his feet and goes into every tournament he plays as the favorite with the best UK betting sites, Littler has spoken about retirement on more than one occasion.

Fans will be hoping Littler plays darts forever, given his incredible talent and ability when it comes to throwing arrows. However, there is already an argument that he has won the two biggest tournaments in world darts already – the Premier League.

That being said, it will be a while before Luke Littler actually retires, surely?

“I won’t be playing at 50,” Littler revealed to Huw Ware on the Tops and Tales Darts Podcast. “I could wake up tomorrow, the fire’s gone out of my belly, and I want to retire. So maybe I can’t achieve it [Phil Taylor’s record],” concluded the reigning world champion.

After bursting on the scene a little over a year ago, Littler has fast become one of the most popular sportsmen in the UK and the face of professional darts. Lets hope it’s a good few years yet until ‘The Nuke’ eventually does call it a day.
