French tennis star Lois Boisson has broken her silence on Brit Harriet Dart’s comment from earlier this year, alleging she needed to “wear deodorant.”

Boisson played it cool, saying that although Hart possibly made a mistake, it did not bother her much.

Harriet Dart Asked Lois Boisson to Wear Deodorant During Clash in April

British tennis star Harriet Dart made a bizarre comment during her Open de Rouen first-round meeting with Lois Boisson.

Following a brutal 6-0 defeat to the Frenchwoman in the first set, and midway through the second, Hart was catching her breath at the end-change. During her break, she walked up to the umpire and complained about Boisson’s personal hygiene.

Can you tell her to wear deodorant?” Dart said (via the Daily Mail).

She’s smelling really bad.”

Her complaint did not change the outcome of the game, however, as she lost the second set 6-3 and crashed out of the competition.

Harriet Dart Apologised for Deodorant Remarks

Harriet Dart’s mid-court comments caused quite a stir on social media. Some fans demanded her suspension for making disrespectful comments towards her opponent.

Dart produced an apology shortly after, acknowledging her mistake and calling it a heat-of-the-moment thing.

I want to apologise for what I said on the court today, it was a heat-of-the-moment comment that I truly regret,” said Dart.

That’s not how I want to carry myself, and I take full responsibility. I have a lot of respect for Lois and how she competed today. I’ll learn from this and move forward.”

Boisson reacted cheekily to the comment on social media.

After beating Dart, she posted a picture of herself with a roll-on deodorant superimposed into her hand. The caption read:

@dove apparently need a collab

Lois Boisson Finally Opens up About Harriet Dart’s ‘Deodorant’ Comment

Ahead of making her debut in the Fourth Round of the French Open, Lois Boisson finally addressed how she dealt with Harriet Dart’s ‘deodorant’ remark.

“It was not difficult to deal with,” said Boisson.

“It was okay. It was nothing for me. She maybe made a mistake, then I joked about it, that’s it.”

Boisson said she did not hear Dart’s remarks during the game, and got to know from social media two hours later. She put the topic to bed, saying:

It was nothing. Something is cool, you know?

I take it with the coolest.

Boisson has bounced back superbly after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament tear a week before the 2024 French Open. She begins the 2025 French Open — where a £50m in prize money is up for grabs — facing Jessica Pegula, on Monday, June 2.
