As the Carabao Cup Third Round draws to a close, here’s our Liverpool Vs West Ham predicted lineups and team news for tonight’s all-Premier League tie.

Arne Slot’s impressive Reds host top-flight rivals West Ham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Each side has had differing fortunes thus far in the Premier League, with Liverpool second in the table having won four from five so far.

The Hammers, meanwhile, are 14th after picking up just one win in their opening fixtures.

Liverpool got over the disappointment of losing at home to Nottingham Forest with convincing wins against AC Milan and Bournemouth.

Irons boss Julen Lopetegui said his team must improve following their humbling, 3-0 defeat to London rivals Chelsea at the weekend.

West Ham have not won since beating Bournemouth on 28th August, and face a tough opponent this evening.

Tonight’s EFL Cup meeting is a repeat of last season’s quarter-final, which Liverpool won 5-1.

The two sides have met 147 times in their history, with Liverpool winning 81 to West Ham’s 29, as well as 37 draws.

West Ham’s last victory in this fixture was a 3-2 Premier League win in November 2021.

Liverpool Team News

As for team news, Liverpool continue to be without Harvey Elliott, with the winger’s fractured foot keeping him out until at least the end of October.

Keeper Alisson Becker missed the weekend’s win against Bournemouth after picking up a minor muscle problem in Milan.

The Brazilian shouldn’t be out for long but remains sidelined for the midweek game. However, Caoimhin Kelleher was always likely to play in the Carabao Cup and made some huge saves to earn a clean sheet against the Cherries.

West Ham’s trip to Merseyside should be the first time we see new arrival Federico Chiesa start for Liverpool. With Mo Salah expected to have earned a rest, the Italian should slot into the starting XI.

Also expected to start is Joe Gomez, with the defender yet to play a Premier League minute this season.

West Ham Team News

We can also expect a much-changed team for the visitors this evening. After a dreadful performance at the weekend, Lopetegui has a perfect opportunity to give some fringe players a chance.

Niclas Fullkrug appears to have shaken off an achilles issue, and may be available once more.

With a fully-fit squad available, West Ham’s starting XI will be more about rest and rotation than forced changes.

Tomas Soucek should slot back in from the start, while Carlos Soler, Jean-Clair Todibo and Michail Antonio are all likely to feature.

Veteran keeper Lukasz Fabianski will most likely replace Alphonse Areola between the sticks.
