Liverpool are prepared to pay up to £40 million for Bournemouth right-back Milos Kerkez as Andy Robertson’s successor.

Liverpool Transfer News: Kerkez lined up as Robertson successor

Liverpool’s left-sided stalwart Andy Robertson recently turned 31 and the Reds are eyeing up a long-term successor to the Scot at full-back.

The Premier League champions in waiting are wasting no time in finding a suitable heir with Kerkez believed to be a cherished target in the transfer window.

The Hungarian international has started in all 29 league games for Bournemouth this season, providing a promising threat going forward with two goals and five assists to his name.

That puts him almost on par with Trent Alexander-Arnold’s production, who has tallied two goals and six assists in 28 games – and well clear of Robertson who has failed to record a single goal contribution.

There’s every reason to believe Kerkez’s numbers could enjoy an upward curve at Anfield in a much better team than the mid-table Cherries.

Bournemouth are likely to be interested in cashing in on the 21-year-old who has three years left on his contract at the Vitality Stadium.

Kerkez was born in Serbia but represents Hungary on the international stage and is quickly making a name for himself after ing Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar in a £15.5m move nearly two years ago.

In his first full season in the Netherlands, Kerkez scored five and tallied seven assists while playing a key role in the club reaching the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League – going down to eventual winners West Ham United.

Among under-21 players in Europe’s top-five leagues this season, Kerkez has recorded the most accurate crosses into the box (31) this season.

Recently, the left-back was quoted saying: “As a kid, you dream to play at the highest level, win trophies, be on the best teams. In the summer transfer window, we will see what happens.”
