Watch Lille Vs Borussia Dortmund highlights as Dortmund came from behind to secure the win and reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

German outfit Borussia Dortmund overturned an early deficit with two second-half goals to claim victory against their French opponents and advance to the next round.

Lille had gone ahead after just five minutes when Jonathan David’s first-time strike nutmegged Gregor Kobel in the Dortmund goal.

That goal gave the hosts a 2-1 advantage on aggregate following a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture.

But after several attempts came close to restoring parity, Dortmund levelled matters ten minutes into the second half through Emre Can.

The former Liverpool midfielder, now captaining Dortmund, cooly converted from the penalty spot after Serhou Guirassy was fouled in the box by Thomas Meunier.

Then, the visitors edged themselves ahead when Maximilian Beier blasted the ball high into the top of the net following Guirassy’s .

Beier was particularly relieved, having moments earlier missed a header narrowly wide of the post.

Lille went close to an equaliser through David, but the Canadian international saw his close-range attempt saved by Kobel, while Hakon Haradlsson also forced a save from the Dortmund keeper.

The result means Lille will not repeat last year’s run to the Champions League quarter finals, where they were beaten over two legs by Aston Villa.

They have never advanced further in the competition, but must wait another year to try again.

Dortmund, meanwhile, are into the last eight again, having lost the final last season to Real Madrid.

The German club has once before lifted the Champions League, beating Juventus in the 1997 final.

As well as last year’s defeat to Madrid, they were also beaten finalists in 2013, when Bayern Munich won 2-1 in an all-German affair in London to win their fifth European title.
