Laver Cup Will Head Back To London In 2026 As Roger Federer Returns For First Time Since Retirement

The Laver Cup is returning to London in 2026, with the O2 Arena hosting the venue once again for the first time since 2022.
Named after Australian tennis legend Rod Laver, the Laver Cup is a three-day, annual competition that pits Europe against the rest of the world.
Co-created by Roger Federer, the Swiss icon ended his illustrious playing career at the 2022 tournament alongside long-standing rivals Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
Laver Cup Returns To London In 2026
The last time the Laver Cup was in London, Federer teamed up with Rafael Nadal for an emotional doubles performance in his last-ever match.
Next year’s tournament will mark the first time the Laver Cup has returned to a venue.
Since the inaugural event in Prague in 2017, the cup has been hosted in Chicago, Geneva, Boston, London, Vancouver and Berlin.
The most recent tournament saw Carlos Alcaraz help Team Europe win the 2024 Laver Cup in Berlin.
London’s 2026 edition will take place at the O2 Arena from 25-27 September next year.

How Does The Laver Cup Work?
The Laver Cup takes inspiration from golf’s iconic Ryder Cup, which pits Europe against America.
The world’s best tennis stars of past and present team up to represent Team Europe or Team World in both singles and doubles matches, with the winning team crowned after three days of intense action.
Currently, Team Europe lead to overall record, at 5-2.
This year’s Cup will take place at the Chase Centre in San Francisco, from 19-21 September.
In previous years, Team Europe has been led by Bjorn Borg, while John McEnroe has captained Team World.
But this year sees Yannick Noah captain Europe alongside vice-captain and retired British star Tim Henman.
The captain and vice-captain for Team World will be Andre Agassi and Pat Rafter.
British Fans Will Make Laver Cup 2026 ‘Electric’
Henman in particular is excited about the Laver Cup returning to London next year.
He said: “British fans are ionate about tennis and the atmosphere at The O2 in 2022 was electric.
“I’m really looking forward to being part of the Laver Cup team for the first time this year in San Francisco and even more excited to see it return to London in 2026. It’s a city that lives and breathes sport, and I know the fans will make it another unforgettable occasion.”
Meanwhile, 20-time major winner Roger Federer has stayed involved with the event since retiring.
Often seen at court-side, he said he was “looking forward to returning to such a meaningful place, this time as a fan”.
And Laver Cup chairman Tony Godsick added: “London set a new benchmark in 2022, delivering one of the most successful and emotional editions of the event to date.
“While we’ve traditionally taken the Laver Cup to new cities around the world each year, the response from London – from fans, partners and players – was truly overwhelming.”
