Team Europe are the Laver Cup 2024 winners after a brilliant final day comeback saw them claim the title for the first time in three years.
Carlos Alcaraz was the star of the show after he sealed a straight-set win against American Taylor Fritz. His victory sealed a 13-11 triumph against Team World in Berlin.
Four-time Grand Slam champion Alcaraz openly voiced his concerns about the busy ATP tennis schedule on September 21. However, he was at his imperious best as he cruised past Fritz 6-2, 7-5.
The Spaniard’s victory confirmed the Laver Cup would return to Team Europe. But is was German Alexander Zverev’s 6-7 (5-7) 7-5 10-5 win over American s Tiafoe that helped make it possible.
This win reduced Team World’s lead to a single point and forced the deciding match which Alcaraz won. After the win, the 2024 Wimbledon champion shared his delight at bringing home the cup.

Carlos Alcaraz Revels In Laver Cup 2024 Win
“Obviously we came here with a goal, all of us, to win the Laver Cup. I think we are really happy about reaching our goal. I think all of us did pretty good work over the days.
“It’s been a really tough one, we almost lost. But Sascha [Zverev] came with really good tennis and gave me the chance to win the cup. So we are really happy with everything,” Alcaraz explained.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a superb year so far after winning both the men’s singles titles at Wimbledon and the French Open. The victory in Berlin is the first time he has won the Ryder Cup-style competition.
If truth be told, it probably won’t be his last either. With the careers of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal winding down, Alcaraz is the star performer in Europe and across the world.
In the new year, Alcaraz will be gunning for glory in Melbourne as the 2025 Australian Open gets underway. It is the only major he is yet to win.
