La Liga outfit Girona are reportedly interested in versatile Barcelona defender Eric Garcia. The Blaugrana do not want to sell anyone in the winter transfer window, but their delicate financial state could compel them to reconsider.
The winter transfer window for the 2024-25 season will officially open on 1st January. According to Barca Universal, Barcelona are not planning to make any major gs in January. The La Liga aspirants are fully focused on ing Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, knowing that the two players would be free to leave if they fail to add them to their roster.
As per reports, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco have decided not to sell anyone in the winter transfer window. However, that is not stopping La Liga teams from ing their interest.

In a report earlier this week, Estadio Deportivo claimed Getafe were interested in prizing Pablo Torre away from Barcelona. With Torre not getting enough opportunities under Flick, Getafe want to attract the defender with the promise of regular football.
Now, Spanish journalist Rodra P has linked Garcia with a move away from the club. Like Torre, Garcia has also struggled for minutes. He has played 11 matches in La Liga, starting only four of them. Garcia has amassed just 541 minutes of football in 13 matches across La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
Girona are hoping to capitalize on the situation and sign Garcia in the January transfer window. With Michel’s team leaking goals this season — 25 in 18 La Liga games — Garcia has emerged as a priority g for the club. The Catalonian side came close to g Garcia in the summer transfer window, with the defender green-lighting the move. However, the move ultimately collapsed due to injuries to Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen.
The situation is reportedly a lot different this time around. Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez have become Flick’s first-choice centre-back pairing, while Christensen and Araujo are nearing a return. Garcia’s departure has thus become a real possibility, with Girona already working on the deal and the player still open to moving to the other side of Catalonia.
The fate of the move could ultimately boil down to Garcia’s versatility, as Barcelona may not want to lose a player who can effortlessly fill in as a defensive midfielder when required. It will be interesting to see how things develop in the coming days.
