Could A Killarney Maiden Be The Clue To Finding The NEXT Aidan O’Brien Derby Winner? 4h2v1i

Top Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien fired in his eleventh Epsom Derby win on 2025, when Lambourn ran his rivals ragged from the front, and after that latest Classic win there seems to be a pattern developing which might give us a clue on which O’Brien Derby horses to look out for in 2026.
50% Of Aidan O’Brien’s Last Six Epsom Derby Winners Broke Their Maiden Tag at Killarney y2j61
Heading into the biggest flat race on the calendar, the all-time winning handler in the Classic – Aidan O’Brien – had three Epsom Derby runners.
These were topped by Delacroix in the betting, with The Lion In Winter next in the market.
However, if the odds were to be believed, it was Ballydoyle’s third string -Lambourn – that gave O’Brien his record extending eleventh Epsom Derby win (watch below).
The win also gave jockey Wayne Lordan his first success in the Derby, but the victory for Lambourn has also increased a growing trend that might give punters a massive clue to finding Aidan O’Brien’s NEXT Epsom Derby winner.
This is because Lambourn become the third Derby winner for Aidan O’Brien to break their maiden tag as 2 year-old at Killarney.
With the other two – Anthony Van Dyck (2019) and Wings Of Eagles (2017).
Meaning there seems to be a pattern building up and this could lead us to the next Aidan O’Brien Epsom Derby winner.

See below the latest 2026 Epsom Derby betting odds – with most of those at the top of the market trained by Aidan O’Brien.
Albert Einstein, Amadeus Mozart, Italy, Warsaw, Brussels and Flushing Meadows are all already popular in the market.
They are also all sired by Wootton Basset, who was responsible for this year’s Derby third Tennessee Stud.
However, these 2026 potential Aidan O’Brien Derby runners have ALL already broken their maiden tags.
Meaning they fall down on this developing Killarney ‘breaking maiden’ trend.
So, we’ll have to see which newcomers (or maidens) O’Brien runs over the up-coming Killarney meetings.
But two in the market that are yet to run are New Zealand and Antigua.
Could these be unleashed at Killarney and then be O’Brien’s twelfth Epsom Derby winner?
