The latest Jude Bellingham injury update explains why the Real Madrid star won’t be featuring against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Saturday night.

Jude Bellingham Injury Update Explains Ireland Absence

England travel over to Dublin to face the Republic of Ireland on Saturday, but star man Jude Bellingham won’t be involved at the Aviva Stadium. The last time the two sides met, Bellingham made his Three Lions debut.

However, the England midfielder wasn’t included in Lee Carsley’s initial 26-man squad after picking up an injury in Real Madrid’s opening La Liga game against Mallorca back in August.

Bellingham hasn’t played since August 18th and wasn’t deemed fit enough to be included in the squad. His absence will be a blow to the Three Lions, but he is expected to be fit towards the end of September.

The 21-year-old is not the only attacking-minded player that will be missing in Dublin. Phil Foden and Cole Palmer are both unavailable too, with injury and illness issues respectively.

Following Carsley’s national anthem saga, he is set to start Jack Grealish in the no.10 role behind Harry Kane. This will be Grealish’s first start for England since being left out of Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad. The Manchester City ace is expected to receive a hostile reception alongside Declan Rice after they both played for Ireland during their youth years.

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire will also start, with Carsley keen on making the most of his leadership skills across the backline.

Jude Bellingham Injury Won’t Stop Ballon d’Or Charge

Despite missing the start of this season, Bellingham remains one of the favourites to win the 2024 Ballon d’Or after his heroics in Madrid last season.

He scored 23 goals and recorded 13 assists across all competitions, helping Madrid lift the La Liga and Champions League.

It wasn’t just club level where Bellingham was performing either. He was a key member of England’s squad during their run to the Euro 2024 final. Bellingham scored twice and also assisted Palmer’s goal in the final against Spain.

According to the best football betting sites, Bellingham is 20/1 to win the 2024 Ballon d’Or with his Madrid teammate Vinicius Jr the leading 2/5 favourite.
