UFC President Dana White insists that Jones vs Aspinall will be next for the UFC Heavyweight Title, despite ongoing talks and with fight still no closer to being confirmed.

Jon Jones Deletes Social Media Post Aimed At Tom Aspinall

Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall is yet to be officially announced, with UFC fans worried the fight might never get signed.

After winning the UFC Heavyweight Title in 2023 against Ciryl Gane with a Round 1 submission victory, Jon Jones defended the heavyweight belt last time out against veteran Stipe Miocic.

Meanwhile Tom Aspinall has beaten every man put in front of him in emphatic fashion. The Englishman has picked up the UFC Interim Heavyweight Title during this time, with a title unification against ‘Bones’ the only fight to make.

UFC President Dana White has revealed on countless occasions that the fight is being discussed with negotiations ongoing, but as of today there has been no announcement that the fight will be next.

Jones seems to be stalling negotiations, demanding ridiculous money for the fight. More recently, the two-division UFC great made a since deleted social media post about Aspinall.

Seemingly referencing Aspinall, Jones took to X, formerly Twitter, posting the following message:

“The guy who was known for calling out Jon Jones, and didn’t end up being great at all.”

It seems fight fans are being made to wait for the Jones vs Aspinall fight a little bit longer, with negotiations still ongoing between the pair.

When Will The Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall Get Signed?

With Jon Jones’ recent tweet directed at UFC heavyweight rival Tom Aspinall later disappearing, it is apparent that Jones’ sentiment towards a fight with Aspinall still remain low.

‘Bones’ continually dismisses the interim, instead preferring a fight against former two-weight UFC king Alex Pereira. However, with ‘Poatan’ losing to Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313, that fight looks completely dead in the water.

All roads lead to a Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall heavyweight unification now, with fans insisting on it. That being said, it could still be some time until we see the pair face off in the octagon.

UFC President Dana White did allay fears fans had in a recent Instagram Live, insisting that the Jones vs Aspinall fight is coming.

“It’s coming, relax,” said White on his in recent Instagram Live.

Whether or not the fight is coming though remains unclear. A realistic timeline for the fight is August at the absolute earlier now, perhaps even later.

The fight had been primed as the headliner for UFC 317 this summer in Las Vegas during International Fight Week, but this now looks highly doubtful.

Fights like Islam Makhachev vs Ilia Topuria, Dricus du Plessis vs Khamzat Chimaev and a handful of others look more likely to be the main event at UFC 317 instead.
