British No.1, Jack Draper, believes Jannik Sinner does not deserve any hate as the Italian nears a return from his doping ban.
Jack Draper Claims Jannik Sinner Doesn’t Deserve Hate Over Doping Ban
The three time grand slam winner was given a three-month ban in February 2025 after testing positive for a banned substance in March 2024.
He has been out of action since February 9th and can return to the sport on May 4th, after recently being allowed to train with other players at a professional location in recent weeks.
British No. 1 Jack Draper says Jannik Sinner doesn’t deserve the “hate he gets” as the Italian nears a return from a doping suspension.
During his suspension, Sinner has received a lot of criticism and labelled a ‘cheat’ by a tennis fans, as many claim there is no room for any form of cheating in tennis.
One man that has not jumped on the bandwagon is Jack Draper, as he believes that Sinner is a great person and does not deserve the hate.
Draper said: “I think Jannik is a really, really genuine, nice person. And on top of that, he’s obviously an unbelievable player.
“In this situation, I’m sure that he would have absolutely zero idea of anything. That’s just the way life goes – sometimes, there’s mistakes.
“In of actually how I feel about him as a person, I think it’s important for people to know and recognize that the guy’s very, very kind-hearted and a good human being. So he doesn’t deserve any of the hate that he gets.”
The world number one will be able to compete at the ATP 1000 tournament in Rome in May, as the tournament is set to begin just three days after his ban ends.
His last appearance on a tennis court came in Australia in January 2025, as the young tennis star won the Australian Open.
