What Happened in the First Leg Between Arsenal and PSG?
With the Premier League title out of reach, Arsenal put all their eggs in the Champions League basket, resting key players ahead of the semi-final first leg at the Emirates Stadium. Unfortunately for the Gunners, their preparation could not save them against the rapid Parisians, who put their noses in front just three minutes into the game.
The dangerous Ousmane Dembele picked up the ball in midfield and dribbled into the Zone 14 before squaring it off to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on the left. Completely unmarked, the Georgian pulled the ball back for Dembele, who applied a first-time finish to send the ball into the back of the net. PSG kept piling men forward in search of the insurance goal, but Arsenal somehow survived.

Two minutes into the second half, Mikel Merino hit the back of the PSG net, but following a lengthy review, VAR chalked the goal off for offside. Arsenal stepped on the gas, but an in-form Donnarumma kept them at bay, handing PSG a slender but crucial advantage to take home.

PSG Team News and Lineup
Star man Ousmane Dembele pulled up his hamstring in last week’s win at the Emirates Stadium. He was, hence, a massive doubt for the game. However, he has seemingly bounced back from the setback, with him recently completing a full team training session. South Korean creative Lee Kang-in, meanwhile, is a big doubt after hurting his ankle in Saturday’s (May 3) 2-1 defeat to Strasbourg.

PSG vs Arsenal: Recent Form and Head-to-Head Record
PSG Recent Form
Luis Enrique’s PSG have won the Ligue 1 title with six games still to play, with second-ranked Marseille sitting 19 points behind. They have won 24 games and lost twice in Ligue 1 this season, but both of these setbacks came in the last two Gameweeks. In their previous outing, PSG fell to a 2-1 defeat away at Strasbourg, but most of the first XI stars sat the game out.

Arsenal Recent Form
The Gunners’ Premier League form has been far from impressive lately. In their last 10 outings in the competition, they won 3, drew 5, and lost 2. Arsenal, who have already lost the title race to Liverpool, suffered their latest setback on Saturday, losing 2-1 to Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium.

PSG vs Arsenal: Head-to-Head Record
PSG and Arsenal have met six times in competitive fixtures over the years. The French side have won one game, the Londoners twice, while three games have ended all square.
PSG vs Arsenal: Prediction
Arsenal cannot afford to play it safe this Wednesday. They will commit bodies forward in search of the equaliser, and in doing so, they inevitably will leave space for the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to exploit. Thomas Partey’s return will make Arsenal more solid in the middle, but we do not think the English side will have enough to keep PSG at bay.
SportsCasting’s Prediction: PSG 2-1 Arsenal (3-1 on Aggregate)
