Chelsea and Newcastle meet in a crucial clash in the race for Champions League qualification on Sunday, and our guide reveals how to watch the games, including information on a TV channel and live stream.

Newcastle vs Chelsea Preview

Chelsea make the long trip up north to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle United in the Premier League in Sunday’s early kick-off, with both sides battling it out for Champions League qualification.

The Magpies are currently in fourth place in the table, and the Blues are in fifth, with both sides level on 63 points, and as it stands, they are on course to seal their spots in Europe’s premier club football competition for next year.

They could yet fall out of the top five however, with Nottingham Forest challenging in fifth place, just two points behind the pair, while Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are three points adrift in seventh place.

Newcastle head into their Gameweek 36 clash off the back of a 1-1 stalemate away at Brighton last time out, where Alexander Isak netted a late penalty to seal a crucial point after Yankuba Minteh’s first-half opener.

Eddie Howe’s men have now won seven of their last nine matches across all competitions, a run that includes victories over Liverpool, Brentford, Manchester United, West Ham and Crystal Palace.

The East Londoners, meanwhile, were in midweek action against Swedish side Djurgarden. A 1-0 confirmed their advancement to the Conference League final, as they secured a 5-1 triumph on aggregate.

Across all competitions, Enzo Maresca has led his side to five consecutive wins. Last time out in the league, they defeated champions Liverpool 3-1 at Stamford Bridge, where Cole Palmer finally ended his goal drought.

Chelsea and Newcastle have already met twice this term, and the southerners claimed a 2-1 win in their league meeting, while the northerners prevailed 2-0 in the Carabao Cup fourth round on their way to the title.

Newcastle vs Chelsea Prediction

With little to nothing to separate the pair in of league standings and overall form, we believe this one could go either way, but given the fact that Newcastle are at home, we’re backing them to edge out the tie.

The Magpies have won each of their last five matches at home in the Premier League, while Chelsea have won just one of their last nine away games in the division, making them one of the most out-of-form teams on the road.

Undoubtedly, both sides will be gunning for it, with the prize of Champions League qualification dangling above their heads, but we at SportsCasting expect Isak and co. to prevail in a tightly contested affair at St James’ Park.

Prediction: Newcastle 2-1 Chelsea
