Crystal Palace vs Wolves: Match Preview

Crystal Palace

Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace made history on Saturday, May 17, beating the mighty Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium. Star forward Eberechi Eze scored the only goal of the game in the 28th minute, and Man City could not come up with a reply. Goalkeeper Dean Henderson produced a stellar performance, making as many as six saves, including Omar Marmoush’s penalty, to help the Eagles to their first major trophy in their entire 120-year history.

Thanks to the win, Palace will play their first FA Community Shield against Premier League winners Liverpool at the start of the 2025-26 season.

Palace will hold a victory parade to commemorate their FA Cup win next week, but before letting loose, they must complete Premier League formalities.

Palace have very little to lose or gain from the last two top-flight matches. They are in 12th place with 49 points, sitting 4 points ahead of Everton in 13th, and 4 points behind Bournemouth in 11th. Tuesday’s result will have no bearing on their positioning, so Palace fans can rest easy and cheer proudly for their history-makers this week.

Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers are 14th in the rankings after amassing 41 points from 36 games. They are trailing Everton by four points and leading 15th-placed West Ham United by one point. They would love to finish the season ahead of the Toffees, but irrespective of the result against Palace, they will finish Matchday 37 in 14th.

Vitor Pereira’s side were in smashing form between March 9 and April 26, ing six wins and a draw in the Premier League. They, however, have not been able to maintain their momentum, losing their last two games in the top flight.

In the previous outing, Wolves succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at Molineux Stadium.
